Sen Says: My Christmas gift... I sprinkled some votes around the Latest Reviews pages.

--> Put any five reviews you like in your F.Y.C. list.
--> Do not use reviews from the previous round - you must change them every round.
--> Post here to declare that you've done it. Sooner is better than later.
--> Provide a spoiler warning in your post when appropriate.
--> You must read the F.Y.C.s of all participants.
--> The next round starts on Monday or Thursday at noon FWFR time, whichever comes next.

The Daily Mail is a British newspaper.

Minuti is one of the main characters in Deja Vu. Time involves minutes; investigations involve minutiae.

Dance of the Goblins was infamously pitched on the business programme Dragons' Den by a woman with a rather loose grip on reality.

Michael Fassbender is the eponymous Counsellor, in which he costars with Brad Pitt.

The structure of the novel Cloud Atlas is a story within a story within a story within a story within a story within a story; an egg-shaped digital player called an orison links two of these. The film must have made the author enough to make his future very comfortable.

Hi gents. Slight problem and I've been watching it coming for many months - my personal benchmark for a review is a minimum vote of 3, so unless there's a chance I can reasonably push my reviews under consideration up to that point it takes away my reason for entering FYC. I will only be entering the same reviews again if they end at 2 or less, which is tedious for me as well as you. So here's a quandary - the last thing I want if for FYC to fizzle out, but at this point it is looking more and more likely. It's getting to make or break for me.

There doesn't seem to be a conversation happening about how this fourum is a now the cyber equivalent of a ghost town. There are a few regular users still over in the games section who presumably aren't writing reviews any more, or care to share them. I wonder if anyone else cares about the state of things?

I certainly care, but I'm not sure what to do about it. I've myself found the Fourum a lot less interesting since it has become so regimented over the last few years. I also find these rounds much less rewarding. I've often submitted reviews recently that I think are really pretty good, and they've only got two votes even when there are four or five other participants. I used to consider five votes the minimum reasonable amount, but now I find myself grateful to get a review off the ground at all. However, I keep going and this site is still first on my bookmark bar and the first page I open whenever I go on line.

I think one problem is that Benj was working on the new site for years and delayed sorting out other things, and even hasn't dealt with them since. Of course it's his site and he can do what he likes -- legally speaking. But those of us who have been here for years have all put thousands of hours into it too. Other people do still care about it -- MguyX sent me a nice message on that subject on Christmas Day, for example.

Let's please at least get to round 1,000, and encourage as many as possible to return for that (which I was already planning to do, along the lines of a couple of the other games' landmarks). I'm also recycling low reviews at times, but you could also just highlight some long-forgotten treasures.

I would like nothing more than for us to reach the 1000th round, but that's not till mid-February, and at this rate it will be tricky for us last that long. Well, lets see. Randall and BaftaBabe should be returning soon. Not sure where Lemmy's at this round, I suspect Christmassing. I'd like to try encourage more participation in general, bur there's no obvious fix for apathy. I think the Fourum has dried up as regular contributors have dropped away, not sure what you mean by it becoming more regimented.
I certainly could highlight old reviews but they would definitely have been voted on by the most regular contributors at this point, I keep track which of my reviews have never been FYC'd.

I'm in this until the end. Some background: Alzheimer's runs in my family. My father and his mother died from it, and there are instances of it on my mother's side of the family as well. They say that keeping your mind nimble may be a deterrent. I'm hoping FWFR and FYC will help me do just that.

Yes, it's discouraging when FYC entries receive only a couple of votes. But I still enjoy seeing which entries do better than others, both my own reviews and other FYC'rs.

And I still enjoy reading reviews in general. If there aren't enough FYCs to read, I'll visit the most recent 500 reviews. From doing that, I can tell you that there are other FWFRers who submit reviews on a regular basis but do not participate in FYC. It would be nice if we could encourage them to play with us in FYC, but I have no idea how to do that.

Like demonic, I keep track of which reviews I put in FYC, and try not to repeat myself unless I'm celebrating a particular actor or genre. When I do include a previously-submitted FYC, it rarely gets many votes. Similarly, when a FYC'r re-submits a review they're particularly fond of, I've usually already voted on it.

So, I don't have any answers. But you can be assured, as long as there are a couple of others submitting to FYC, I'll be there.

I'm sorry to hear that, Larry, but I've also heard that one can help to keep it at bay in ways like this. Hopefully it won't strike you anyway, but if it does I'm sure you'll make it later and lesser.

I think I'm in till the end too. I had become a bit less regular, but I'll try to enter most rounds now. Demonic, I think you're being a little pessimistic suggesting that even getting to February will be difficult!

I submit reviews here in order of approval, with occasional exceptions that I keep a mental note of, and I record which reviews I've put in again. My plan was to explain them more the second time, just in case, but I can't always bring myself to, as it undermines the whole fun of it.

Whenever I watch a film, I afterwards read all of the reviews and vote on the ones I like. I would have thought that many people would do this, but I don't get many votes outside the F.Y.C.T.H., so I suppose they don't, which is a shame.

Sorry for the screw up.

Lemmy in for #986.

Sorry I'm late. When BB and randall get back we should have critical mass.

Three is the magic number....

<----Please click on my name for my late Asian entry.

N.B.
Leon Lai plays an assassin in "Fallen Angels".
"Hell in the Pacific" only features two actors for the whole duration- Lee Marvin & Toshiro Mifune.

Maybe, but only based on the clear gradual decline in players that has been accelerating in recent months. I don't think another 14 rounds over six weeks are guaranteed.

Yes, same for me. I find it odd that there are fwiffers writing but not sharing their work or voting on others. Why contribute at all?

Sorry for the confusion. Blame the egg nog.

The current reviews were for the last round. Today when I realized that I had not entered this round I thought that I had posted them on Thursday and had just forgotten to enter.

I will post five more tomorrow for #987. Just disregard my current reviews since you saw them for #985. reviews

Every once in a while, I have to take a little vacation from fwfr. Sometimes it's what the sf fans used to call GAFIA (Getting Away From It All), sometimes the crush of real life forces FAFIA (Forced Away From It All), and sometimes I find myself taking mites a mite too seriously, requiring a little "forced perspective." I think I'm up for wisecracking again. I'll try to post in FYCTH tomorrow.

But whatever happens, I'm determined to meet demonic in person on Broadway in January. We've already arranged the confourence. So there.
