I don't know if this was addressed elsewhere in the FOURum, but I just noticed that Randall has beaten noncentz for ownership of the #2 spot! Congradulations Randall.
BTW, for those of you who are curious, I e-mailed noncentz not long ago telling him we miss him. He says he's been very busy lately, but indicated that he hasn't left us forever. |

Thanks, guys. Even though this is all just a game, I still feel ambivalent about passing noncentz. The same feeling also surfaced one particular rank before -- but AC and I had become personal friends long before that, and thus were able to empathize a tad with each other without even discussing the matter. In contrast, I know noncentz only by the cleverness of his wordplay on the page. Wait, its a computer screen. Right, a Web page, so that makes him a star of page and screen! Aw, you understand; as we all do, I just tried to become noncentzical and, of course, I failed.
Roll-calling at #2 at this point is not an achievement. It means nothing if the reviewer ahead of you is on hiatus; had they continued regular reviewing, both noncentz and AC would still be way at the top of the heap. My current relative position is nothing more than an endurance mark, like a dodgy Guinness Book record for growing a beard.
What chastens me, and the only reason I even mention all this, is that for the moment, the fwfr default will show most people my reviews on a particular film before they see noncentzs. And that I dont like. noncentz is far and away our best reviewer, a one-person quantum leap who singlehandedly transformed the quality of submissions on the site, a perfect jape who does what the rest of us only try to emulate. He is what we point to when we try to explain to others the ineffable soul of fwfr. [AC knows more about movies than anybody else I ever met*, and he has the noncentzish pixie in him, too. Ive long since mourned the fact that people see mine before his. But noncentz eclipses even AC. And guess what: Ill bet AC would agree with that statement.]
No false modesty here: I concede I have contributed some corkers to the site; no, I would even boast about it; no, I would even argue that a few of my best would be among the Top 100 if the established list werent self-sustaining and self-perpetuating. Im only saying that noncentz is the MAN, he was always and will ever be. Check his stuff out.
*Boy, would I love to meet lemmy, Kappy, etc. Not to mention noncentz hisself!

Beautifully put, as always, mate. A little embarrassing to see my name mentioned so many times without doing anything but it's nice to see I haven't been forgotten.
Congrats on hitting number 2, big fella - quality will always outrank quantity but you have shovelfuls of both to trade on.

I agree whole-heartedly with this statement. Reviewers that are ahead of noncentz are like the winner of the Best Director Oscar in the same year that Martin Scorsese is nominated.
Noncentz, we're all eagarly waiting for your comeback! |

Well done Randall, don't let other people, who stop reviewing, stop the fun that you have at FWFR. That's the way I looked at getting to the top of the rank. You'll catch me too, very soon. |

Thanx for the note, foxy. I'll never catch you unless you go on hiatus as well: you write 'em faster than I can ever catch up... |

Nice work, Randall. Now it's time you whipped that foxboy's arse.
The one thing you'll never have to worry about is seeing me in your rearview mirror. Even if you retire, I'll still take about 10 years to catch you up! |

It's getting kicked now, I have stopped writing just for accolades, so my submitting is down to maybe 2 - 4 a day, if that.
