Five picture postcards.

Happy birthday, Chocky. Don't worry, I have 12 years on you.

12 years, huh? I wonder if that feels longer when you're in Canada - just joking!

(And I think the link you want is http://www.fwfr.com/user.asp?id=4204)

Welcome to the jungle.

In "Mountains of the Moon" Burton and Speke meet an African king who's about 7 feet tall.

...90-something votes short of a major milestone.

Monday morning and I find myself rooting for the Aussies...

In Day of the Dolphin George C. Scott (best known for playing Patton) researches dolphin speech. The bits in Tron were sometimes naughty.

And dogs are sometimes called curs. Fans of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin may recognize this pun.

Five reviews with a geographical theme.

Notes:
"Apocalypse Now" is loosely based on Conrad's "Heart of Darkness"

Willem Dafoe's character in "Wild At Heart" is called Bobby Peru

"13" is a Georgian film involving an illegal Russian Roulette gambling society.

Well, I'm slipping badly in the top 100 ranking, but am I worried? Damn straight. I may soon be in the top 10 vote getters but out of the top 50 reviewers.

Here's some that I hope will increase my vote total.

The reviews include:
- two very a propos songs for a Disco Sex Party
- an allusion to the critic's choice of greatest film of all time and... See No Evil?!?
- recognizing a connection between Cars and a well-known disaster film of the 70's
- and my personal fave of the bunch, for How To Go Out On A Date In Queens. Queens is one of the boroughs of New York and the film stars Esai Morales. Too good a pun to miss.

A very Happy Birthday to ChocolateLady. I just sent some B-day votes your way and more as a thank-you for your kindness.

Have voted to here.

The Eleventh Commandment seems to be a naughty version of the Biblical Ten Commandments, which of course, God gave to Moses in the form of two stone tablets.

The main character in White is Karol Karol. The film represents the "equality" part of the French flag.

What ritual might a religious Christian perform on Christmas?
