I'm sorry? Are you enquiring as to what's wrong with your review? OK, there's 3 things I think are important here.

1) What film is this for? It really would help with our 'discussions' if you provided something for us to work with y'know. It might be for Butch Cassidy and the Sndance Kid from your rather minimalist references, but I could very well be wrong. There's one reason it's bad.

2) If indeed it is for BC and the SK it's just not very good. I know it's not a great reason to decline, but hey, a MERP may have been on a bad day.

3) I have been back on FWFR for what, 24 hours? I have seen several threads from you moaning about declined reviews. Now I know I've been away for a while, but since when was this common place? We all know, well I thought we did, that threads along the lines of 'This review's wicked, approve it now' descend into things that aren't worthy of discussion. The fact that you've addressed it in such a graceful manner endears you even less to me.

All in all, what is wrong with your review is that it's not very good. I'd rather you stopped the swearing in the thread titles also. It annoys me ever so. I don't mean to sound unkind, belligerant or elitist or anything of that sort, but we all get reviews declined that we like. Accept that they're declined and either resub with an explanation or do a new one. End of.

Well, before the fur starts flying, let me just chime in. As a person who swears constantly, ironically, I have to agree with shoon on the swear words in the subject thing. Hypocrite that I am, there seems to be some difference between spicy language in the body of a message and spice in the title. What's the difference? I don't know, but maybe it's kind of assaulting. Of course, I could always take refuge behind the "there's kids in the room" platform, but my hypocrisy goes only so far.

As for complaining about declined reviews, well, that's kind of common, judging from the ever resurfacing "Let's share our declined reviews" type thread. Generally, folks tend to gripe less about declines as they spend more time on the site. But I have to agree with shoon, again, on the frequency issue. If a review gets declined, try again, submit an explanation, or revise it. Airing it for discussion should be a rare event. Airing them too often suggests abuse. No one's gonna stop anyone from airing declination gripes frequently, but just because there's five pounds of candy in the dish doesn't mean we've got to eat it all in one sitting. (Huh?)

I have no comment on the relative quality of the reviews. That's for benj and the Marps to opine (I know, I know: it's Merps, but I just crack myself up by misspelling it).

All I can see in the fourum are a bunch of topics entitled '0' with nothing inside. Same case as here. But I must agree with Shoon. The number of complaints and threads containing complaints and the amount of begging has gotten out of hand. It seems that newbies think that airing out frustrations and declines in the fourum will get them approved. I'm also wondering if a ton of resubs may be slowing down the backlog?

I think what has happened here is that BB has cleared out all of her posts. I'm not entirely sure why, I'm sure we'll know soon though.

Um, does this strike anyone else as a really ineffectual style of protest? Like something a five year old would resort to?

It's 12.30am on a Saturday night in the UK. Perhaps it's the "bottle through your own window at your own party" reaction when someone said the wrong thing?

I don't necessarily mind the 'declined review' threads being relagated to the garbage bin, but perfectly valid threads in the movies and games sections have now been decapitated. E.g., the "Wind that Shakes the Barley" thread (a movie I'm going to see sometime and will probably comment on) is now named "0" and the opening post has been deleted. Oh well, I suppose now someone will have to start another one.

BaftaBabe, please accept my apology if my post hurt, offended, embarassed you, or if it patted you on the fanny (I've tried to raise it properly, but sometimes there's just no telling what he'll do.)

There have been numerous feuds, snipes, snarks, criticisms and other stuff that have found their way into the fourum. In an odd sort of way, it kind of reminds me of life in general, because that shit happens. But what almost always happens is that the community pulls together and finds a way to be supportive in the end (which would explain the fanny-patting).

There have been times when I got so offended that I wanted to demand that benj remove all of my reviews from the site . . . wait . . . no, that wasn't me, that was that other dude, the one who wanted to "unsubscribe". Remember that guy? Who was it told him he could unsubscribe by just not paying the subscription fee? HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR !!!!!! Phew! Where was I? But, that doesn't make me feel happy. Nor could I then show all of my friends my TOTALLY ORIGINAL AND COMPLETELY NOT INFLUENCED BY WALTER KERR REVIEW OF "I Am A Camera" which Randall seems to think I lifted from the late critic simply because he once wrote the same review for, well, the same show about ten years before I was born. SO what if I was aware of that? Does that make me a plagerizer? Well I refuse to accept that! And everyone here will fight with me. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old. (Man, that sounds familiar). But I digress.

Please accept my apology BaftaBabe, and I'll send you flowers.

Now, this doesn't mean I'm not gonna pick on you though.

Just want to say:

BB,
I think perhaps I understand how you feel. Although I don't know the specifics of your recent post-deleting spree, I recall when I went on a similar spree myself.

We like you BB, very much. The community wouldn't be as much fun without your participation. We are proud to have made your acquaintance and I hope you'll shrug this off and come back.
