Hi all
I was just wondering - how does the reviewing actually work?
I read in the FAQs that each review gets voted 3 times and you are accepted or declined on a 'best 2 of 3' system. So even if one MERP doesn't like your review, you can still get in.
What I really want to know is ... what do the MERPs see? Do they see the review plus the reviewer's name? Or just a list of reviews with no names?
In my mind, it must be the latter - otherwise, how else could Benj Clews take part without accusations of favouritism?
Can anyone clue me in on the mechanics of it all?

Benj could probably describe it most accurately. |

Um... I prefer to keep schtum about how the editorial process works- no matter how trivial the query may seem, in order to keep the site as fair as possible. I once talked about it a bit and I saw some people trying to take advantage of the system as it was then. I switched things around a little and decided it was best not to mention how things work anymore. Sorry |

As a grizzled veteran of many declined review - the one thing I'll say is that after you understand what tey are looking for you agree with their decisions almost all the time - if there is something esoteric about your review you can resub with comments - otherwise I think its pretty fair although I did have a review yesterday that got through with 5 words - I have pulled it and resubmitted. But mostly these guys/gals/humanoids get it right and almost everytime I see a declined review I know why. |

I'm surprised by Benj's answer, although no doubt he has good reasons.
I would just say were I a MERP, which I'm not, I would not want to know whose reviews I was considering. It would not be relevant and a potential distraction.
I expect that Benj feels the same way and has designed the process accordingly.
