"Resisting the Bay lobotomy"

OK, something odd just happened. I submitted two reviews in less than 60 seconds and went straight to my fwfr page...where the two new reviews were already in the declined stack with the reason of 'similar to another review'. The reviews were:
Saw - "Sore." Saw II - "Sore Too."
I looked through the existing reviews and these had not been used before.
So either there are dozens of MERPS working round the clock to instantly pounce on new reviews or there is some automation (working on keywords?). What is the story? Has Benj finally perfected the fully automated 'Declinatron 5000' machine?

Though not a Merp, I'd have to say those are pretty generic - there are 100's of movies to which Sore applies. Maybe Benj just happened to see them pop up - it sems like reviews from the same movie often get approved together - so maybe Benj was approving Saw reviews at the time. |

Hi Turrell,
my question was solely about how they got rejected so fast.
I am not saying that they deserve approving; I submitted them immediately I thought of them as a bit of fun. |

The MERP may have happened to be checking that movie at the time you submitted or perhaps a MERP had gone through all of the other reviews and was waiting for new ones and yours popped up. Or maybe it was an automatic decline because it was too similar to another review. |

Hey zulu,
I've had reviews that went directly to the declined stack as soon as I submitted them. In a couple cases it was because there was a similar review for the film that I hadn't noticed. But once or twice a submission was immediately declined even though there was no review like it.
I can't say for sure why, but my guess was that there was a similar review, though for a different film. I suppose you can't have two movies with the same review.

I think its good if I submit a review and it gets declined right away. Makes me think "What was I thinking?" lol.

Go to the back of the class Chazbo!
It's "legal" to use a review which has already been used for a different film.
Is there an automatic "similar review" decline mechanism, and if so how does it work (other than taking out exact matches)?

If a review is already against a film in any status, an exact dupe will be declined right away. In the case of the reviews here, both were already reviews declined against these films in the past. |

Does that mean only if the decline has not been deleted by the first reviewer, or does the database remember declined AND deleted reviews? (I'm thinking only the former!??)
