Thanks to all who have given my vote average a boost (presumably thanks to this thread). Myself, being a terrible procrastinator* have not reciprocated yet, but I'll check out all of your links soon, I promise.
* I bought a self-help book called "Procrastination: Why You Do It and What To Do About It" but I haven't got around to reading it yet. (Absolutely true.) |

Remind me again what the purpose of this vote catching exercise is?
Wouldn't it be more satisfying to know that a vote is proof of appreciation?
Hey, maybe thats just me.

I think that it is important to understand that this and other threads are not about the distribution of votes for dross. I and propably all the other people in this thread only take part and vote on reviews that they think have merit. Personally I read everyone's page and decided which I considered worthy rather than voting for the first 10 and moving on.
You do not have to take part and if you do there is not expectation for you to vote, only to read the page of reviews and then if you like something then vote if you wish.
I would be suprised if any of the participants here voted without understanding or appreciating what they were voting for.

I once borrowed a book about speed reading from my college library. I renewed the loan twice but still didn't finish it. Also true. |

Hey, what ever turns your crank Josh, but I find the votes I treasure are the ones that come immediatly upon approval of my reviews. I imagine that they are from the MERP or Benj himself. Please don't shatter my illusions and I'll promise not mess with yours. |

That's a good point. If I get votes shortly after the review is approved then it's usually a sign of heaps more to come if I FYCTH it. |

You know, I usually follow that theory too, but my review for Monster's Ball that somehow picked up two votes straight after approval went in for this weeks FYC and only picked up another three. There ain't no rhyme nor reason! |
