Almost three years ago (in my first month as a fwiffer) I had a review passed for Un Chien Andalou--Bunuel makes you blink. I really liked it (still do). Some time ago I put it in the FYCTH. It got zilch votes. C'est la vie.
All of a sudden, today, out of the blue it gets a vote!
Thank you to the discerning individual responsible.
P.S. I think that it was rejected first time submitted , but I persevered. You gotta believe. |

Even when you know what's coming it is weird. Think what the original audience felt! |

I saw it in film school 35 years ago and had the same reaction! |

No idea where to find that one, I'd sure like to see it. I can't find that or any other Bunuel movies for rent apart from The Exterminating Angel. One of the pitfalls of living near Antarctica.... |

What you have to understand is that it's for real. [But not really!] After almost 40 years, I still had to step outside a Bunuel loop at MOMA one day as the circuit spun toward the infamous ANDALOU shot. |

Lemmy, just sent you another vote for that review.
It seems that I've gotten a couple of gratis votes for my review of that film as well.
I second Lemmy's show of thanks to those responsible.

If only it were Bunuel's first film (according to IMDb it was his second). I'd be tempted to alter my review, also referring to the infamous scene, to 'Bunuel makes blinding start'. I have mixed feelings about my review; anyone who didn't know me might suspect I was a raving mysogenist. (Anyone who does know me and thinks that would have to be a crazy bitch, obviously.)
Look, it was a joke. I'm sorry. Put that razor down. Please. |
