Presumably the 'similar' review is Bife's "Mary, head of state".

Fair point- I think I must have taken a cursory glance and thought they were identical.

Apologies on this- resub it and I'll reapp it.

I think I'll also add a check on the Report function to stop repeated reportings from being submitted- this way no review can be flagged for the same thing twice, meaning I can't make the same mistake twice.

Thanks, Benj, for the royal pardon. I'll resubmit Mary immediately.

Will I get my votes back?

And thanks to those who expressed support. I may ask Amnesty International to recognise your efforts in challenging this death sentence.

Although mine isn't exactly my finest hour, I prefer it as I have a strong dislike for \""() etc within reviews (although I confess I've done it myself when I've run out of options), hence mine "rolls off the page" easier,

Ironic then that its my review which actually has rolled off the page and yours is still there!

And I have no problem that you think your review is better than mine. You are perfectly entitled to be wrong if you want to.
I'd say mine rolled off the page and rolled yours off the page then.

I don't mind being wrong, particularly when I win a two-review dispute.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

And remember, tomorrow is another day.

For what it's worth I don't think "Arch-enemy serves Cold Dish" as it stands is particularly whimsical or charming. The inclusion / exclusion of Khan in this actually makes no difference, other than making it specific.

And there I was thinking you were cool, based purely on your avatar: Brian Bolland's iconic image of the Joker's birth from The Killing Joke.

Instead, you've just joined the list of people I dislike on general principle.

Yes, it's a long list. And yes, I am a petty little shit.

If that weren't so funny, it might be concerning. Having an opinion is certainly a new thing to be actively disliked for. Oh well.

What happened to whimsical and charming? For what it's worth my opinion hasn't changed of you at all - you still write good reviews, and you're an interesting contributor to the Fourum - the fact you think you're a petty little shit is neither here nor there to me - it just makes me suspect you take all this a bit too seriously.

As the Joker might have said - "laugh and the world laughs with you..."

Hmm: kindly add me to your little list, my lad, for now I have become officially disinterested.

Well, amidst everything else, a review is supposed to be specific to the film, and I do think that Ali's original review doesn't lead the reader to identify it with one film. "Revenge is a dish best served cold" shows up in many films (for example, The Godfather) with minor variations, and the one that comes first to my mind is Kind Hearts and Coronets from 1949. And with that, I'm going to slip out the side door and try to avoid the fire.

You see, I despise smileys, which, I believe, are spawns of satan. The downside is that people who don't know me have a hard time differentiating between the few occasions when I'm being serious, and those when I'm not.

A caveat: Taking me seriously on "the cruel internets" is akin to taking all this shit seriously in real life.

Not in the film, it doesn't. (A variation is in the book, mind)

Yippee! Mary's back!

No votes, however, apart from the one gained since her return.

Benj, may I have my votes back, please? [Is there a smiley signifying abject pleading?]

That is very true, but I still have to say I was a bit thrilled tonight when I was cruising around and recognized the review in the "what film" bubble as the one I wrote for Blacula. Fairly big odds against it, and it's the first in the several months I've been here. I'm glad it was one I'm not too ashamed of. I'm a sucker for cheap thrills.

Wait... I just did some quick adding and realize that if my pending reviews were all suddenly approved, I'd break into the Top 100 just ahead of Alan Smithee.... I must rethink this...

Um... any chance you can tell me how many there were pre-decline?
