Is there any usage-limiation rule about a clever reivew that could be viably applied to any number of movies? When I was touting my "Licorice Shtick" as the perfect review, a criticism was made that, besides being about a clarinetist, it could also apply to a corny movie aobut licorice or some other topic involving sweets. Couldn't the same be said about the hallowed review "Icy Dead People." While certainly valid for the "Titanic," I'm sure this review would aptly describe several other films dealing with people who freeze to death. One would be the movie "Alive." An obvious multi-use of the same review would be for remakes of a film. Any thoughts?

| As a general rule, a review that might apply to several films will be declined as "too generic." Exceptions are occassionally made for particularly witty or amusing reviews, and also depending on the mood of the editor and MERPs. |

Icy Dead People was submitted back in the days when the generic rule was a lot more lenient. Yep, it's generic, and if someone submitted it today for that movie it would be declined as generic. I'd guess the only reason it's still on the site is that it's very popular and the site would lose something if it was deleted.
But as DT said, if a review could easily apply to plenty of movies then it's generic and a no-go. |

You'll find that many of the reviews that are in the top 100 would be turned down today for being to generic.

The generic issue is a contentious one indeed. 
I'll just add that I don't think its just a matter of whether the review could be applied to other films, but whether it would have the same meaning.
Here is an example - and, as luck would have it, you can vote for it if you want to. And, knock me down with a feather, its one of mine too. 
It might be generic for a Western, but... |

Yep, a few of the classic corkers are, upon reflection, too generic. But by now they're part of the fabric of the site.
In general, I hate to see the same joke used over and over again for similar movies. But this gang is a bunch of rule breakers, and Conan whomped the rules quite humorously for the POLICE ACADEMY series -- and I must say, his repetitive reviews are (1) accurate, and (2) funniest in toto. However: this was a clever laugh, not a cheap one, and it may well work only once. |

How do you single out your review onto one page?
It really is very simple. Go to the movie and find the page with the review you want. Sort it by reviewer name (for you, it would be best to do that sort twice so that the first ones up are at the beginning of the alphabet). Count how many reviews are before that one on the page. Up at the top in the URL you'll see 'Sort=100' change the 100 to the number of reviews before yours, then go to the next page. Then change that Sort number again from whatever it was to the number 1 and you'll have the URL for just your review.
Here's your 8 Mile review, for instance.
(Of course, I'm sure Whip will show you an easier way than this, but that's how I do it.)

That's how I'd do it too, but it only works until another review is added to the film or gets more votes etc, however they are sorted.

If you order things by real chronological, rather than anti-chronological as comes up first, it only stops working if an older review gets deleted, which is much less common than other changes to the reviews for a film.

So, this cannot be done if the reviews are on only 1 page for a film?

Sure it can. Sort the page by chronological order, then count how many reviews up until yours, then put that number in place of 100 for "rows", then click on the next page and if there are any reviews besides yours, then change that number of rows again to 1 and you'll have the URL for just your review.
For instance, here's my review for the movie Sixty Six which has only two other reviews.
