I feel kind of guilty doing this as Whipper visited me nicely last week, but I shall pay him a visit in return
You got the hang of this game, Liv?
Well, you Liv and learn...

I waited for 10:00, as I thought B.B. had just missed 9:00. She did, but either on purpose or by chance she got 8:00, so I could have posted immediately. And here was me estimating the difference between my computer's time and F.W.F.R. time so that I could post as close as possible. |

Yeah, I was going to wait till 9, when I noticed an 8-shaped gap, so rather than play FWFR-time roulette I hit da button! Glad you made it anyway. I'm sure we'll all catch the boat eventually!
PS: Gotcha Whippy!

I've now visited you too, Whipper. A lot of great ones there that I hadn't previously seen. I think you should change "1985" to "Nineteen Eighty-Five", though. |

I've also visited Whippersnapper with a huge voting stick; there were some absolute gems there. Kudos, sir.

Don't you worry, Whip - you can visit twice as many of mine if it makes you feel better. Which it will of course. |

That is because it wasn't yet 6 in fwfr time when you posted it.
The Excuse:
Well, see.... here's the thing. I live in Indiana, USA, which until this summer, had never observed Daylight Savings Time. So prior to this, I knew that sometimes the UK was 5 hours ahead of me, and at other times, it was 6 hours ahead. I was used to thinking this, so when I looked at the postings, in my mind I was saying "Okay, 6 hours ahead now...."
Fractured History:
As a side note, it was Benjamin Franklin who first suggested the use of Daylight Savings Time, so that the farmers in the south could work in the tobacco fields later. This was to ensure the good Mr. Franklin that he would have ample supply of pipe filler. (The whole thing makes no sense to me, no matter how the clock is set, there is still only a finite number of hours in a given day wherein there is sunlight present.) This meant that for the first time in my life, at one point this summer, it was still dark at 7:30 am in the morning and the sun was still up at nearly 9:30 pm. This totally blows the concept of the drive-in movie with take out chicken and a 6 pack of beer on a hot summer evening out the window. It also killed the Hoosier state's belief that the rest of the world revolved around it (along with Arizona and Hawaii). I would have to say that this was one idea of Mr. Franklin's that sucked boiled water. Along with that thing about the key tied to the tail of a kite during a lightning storm, I can only conclude that the good Mr. Franklin suffered from Pioneer Dementia, which is what happens when you're too busy doing everything else to have time for Senile Dementia (but it's related).
The Conclusion:
It was not my fault that I had the time wrong. It was most definitely Benjamin Franklin's.

I really loathe daylight savings time. Time in Britain is skewed heavily eastwards as it is (relatively speaking), because of where Greenwich is. British Summer Time skews it an hour more in the same direction. If people want to work when there are certain light levels, fine, but they shouldn't need to pretend that it is a different time of day. |

Whippa, your instructions don't say if you can dock only once. So I'm sending out my boat again.

As far as I'm concerned, your first message is a legally binding contract and if you don't vote for both my boats, then I'm sending my lawyers after you.
Of course, I will pay you back by reading two of your pages. |

Franklin, my dear? I don't give a damn!
Even before this post, which was enough to have hung any jury and forced a retrial (mistrial in the US) I had assigned you the otherwise empty 11.00 berth on the Good Ship Whippa and you should receive a visit later today.
Thanks to everyone else for their kind comments and thanks to Sal for his suggestion on how to improve my Brazil review ().
Although "Nineteen Eighty-Five" mimics "Nineteen Eighty-Four", "1985" has more visual impact and links better with the site style for showing the film name, viz. "Brazil (1985)". Hence my preference, on balance, for the numeric version.
