Um, if one gives a spoiler alert, the spoiler has to be in beige or come lower down; otherwise, there's not really any point... |

thefoxboy's FYC 265
My vote is to keep the start time as is. |

Like others who have mentioned it previously, I'd like to be able to start rounds sometimes too. At least once I stayed up all night because I wanted to suggest a special (optional) theme, and someone went and started the round early. (Around that time, people sometimes took to starting it the previous night, which was even more annoying!)
Anyway, I've been wondering about the following for a while. What would people think about changing the Thursday start time to 6 p.m.? As well as meaning that different people could start the rounds, it would make them the same length. I know that people are quite attached to keeping the F.Y.C.T.H. as it is, but personally I think this would overall be a good and fair idea.
I don't mind one way or another, actually. If the Thursday one starts in the evening, I'll just post early on Fridays.

You may be right, but as soon as I see the words "spoiler alert" I can stop reading if I want to. It's obviously easier to avoid if it has to be highlighted, but I trust my own will-power. Rather that than no warning at all? |

Human beings do not read one word at a time. One has always scanned ahead one or two lines of the point that one is at. |

True for most humans, but not for dyslexic humans (like me).
However, all humans (with or without dyslexia) have an innate curiosity that will make it hard for them to not look at something they think they shouldn't be looking at. Putting the spoiler in a colour that makes it almost impossible to read without highlighting it will make it easier for us to resist the temptation.

Oh come off it Sal. Your eye is drawn to the bold type, telling you the warning which would trigger your mind faster than your eye to stop if you wanted to. I didn't read it because I chose not to, it's got nothing to do with "what human beings do".
Of course, I am from Saturn, so that might change things.
edit: that's the truth of it Choccy, you're right - it is about will-power and resisting temptation. I can't resist junk food, I can resist spoiler warnings. Well, sometimes. Sometimes I squint at them to get a basic idea.... |

Well, I certainly did not choose to read it, but as soon as I glanced at the post, I took in the information. |
