I think "The Munificent Sever" was decent enough to get an approval but I wouldn't bang my head over it. I'd never would have understood it without your explanation. And I think Benj has a rule where if you can't slightly change a word of another review that is already there.

One great decline I had to give up on after my appeal failed was for Flags of our Father:
"Saving Private Ryan Phillippe"
I think it's one of the best reviews I've ever written. It's one of those reviews that you love but when you see it in your decline pile for the first time, you enter a state of shock.

I'd have thought it would pass (although I guess that his character is not a private).

I saw the film last week and although it's possible I missed something (I watched it on an airplane at four in the morning and wasn't very impressed), I don't recall him being saved

Well, unless I've got the characters wrong, he's pulled from the front as a special case and taken back home.

Still, I'd find it a stratched to call him 'saved'. He isn't pulled from the front line a la Private Ryan in order to save hime, he is pulled so that he can be manipulated as a public war hero to help raise funds for the war

Yep, but it saves him all the same. For the purposes of the review, I think it's O.K.
