I agree with MguyX. The "Whipper attacks Salopian and Salopian responds with boredom" was entertaining the first few times but it's become rather tiresome and boring. You could at least make it funny.

BTW, foxy is a copycat (or is that copyfox?). Check out my post third post down here if you don't know what I mean.

Um, that was my point.

Er, they're white Americans.

One of the above is correct.

Yes, exactly. That was still my point.

MBI, because you are of indiscriminate "Oriental" heritage, do you get to speak for every person of your ancestry? No. So let us leave the identity politics out of it.

I don't really care if one is black or white or whatever. We want this site to be welcoming to every visitor, which means making a moderate effort to avoid using terms that have historically been used as slurs. Of course there's gray territory between the slur and the non-slur (and the rules change all the time and it would be silly to be constantly PC-policing the site) but if "dwarf" falls in that gray area "spade" (by your own admission) falls firmly in "slur" territory, so it's a no-brainer not to use it--as one wouldn't use nigger or kike or spic or faggot or cunt, unless specifically citing the language of the film itself.

Seriously Napoleon is a movie character and there were like lots, and lots jokes that didn't involve nerdiness puns, actually I don't remember any... actually I think that was all he's charm, yes Napoleon was charming...
From my perspective, and from how I watched this movie, and from that what did I like about it, there's nothing exploitive about it... it's a comedy with offbeat characters and while maybe there exist people who think this movie is funny because "it's cool to mock" I'm stepping away from these, and embrace the thought that I and a whole round of my friends that have watched it like it because it's sheer craze frenzy of funny jokes.

Also, you could also hate Buster Keaton's, Charlie Chaplin's films for similar reasons... but do you?

I've only seen one Chaplin film, "City Lights." That's a good film. More importantly, I felt for the Tramp. He was a kind soul who sacrificed a lot for his blind lady-love. He had pathos because we saw he was kind and cared. Even in films like "Revenge of the Nerds," where a lot of our laughter is at and not with the characters, we understand why we cheer the nerds. We're supporting the value of intelligence over popularity and surface beauty.

I would be hard pressed to ascribe any praiseworthy values to Napoleon Dynamite. I did NOT find him charming. I found him creepy and borderline retarded. Does Napoleon seem like he'd make a good boyfriend? Will Pedro be a good class president? Even when he did something that could be construed as admirable, his emotionless slack-jaw face makes it difficult to say why he does it. The whole thing is nothing but slamming Napoleon and everyone he knows for being nerdy, for being poor, for living in Hickville, Idaho, for being weird. When Napoleon gets slammed into a locker, we don't see the bully laughing, which would make us sympathize with him. We just see Napoleon get angry in his stupid dork way, which we're supposed to laugh at. I hate this movie.

Hey, you brought it up. Also, I said "indeterminate."

Anyways, I found where our main difference in POV stems from:

I see. Who exactly do you want to feel unwelcome then?

EDIT: Took out somewhat overheated response.

Thanks for toning down your original response, whatever it was. I'm not trying to provoke, honestly. This is just a philosophical debate.

Anyways, who do I want to feel unwelcome? Hypersensitive people, mostly. People who can't appreciate a good joke because of some offensive language. I'm not saying offensive language should be tossed around carelessly in these things -- if it was, I'd like to think we the viewers wouldn't vote on it. But a good joke is a good joke; this is a humor website and refraining from offensive language is an unnecessary impediment to comedy.

I mean: "Homo on the range"? That's funny. I don't care if that word offends someone, the joke is solid.

Can we all not live in harmony?
Anyhow, I don't see how much these (sensitive blokes, of you cannot clearly say that they "don't know comedy" cause they find some things offensive) and then I (who considers "sexual humor" and "bad taste humor" only funny in maybe 5% of the situations due to "my personal blasphemous philosophy" ) much block the way for people "who are not sensative" to come and vote in this relatively balanced site of the instances of all kinds o humor.

Personally for the likings of rabid "a good joke" is a joke crafted in all the right ways, a joke completely outthought. Basically I tend to think that it's all in the craft, and if you say "I don't care if it offends someone" then you're not "crafting it right". For "sexual humor" I personally think "the craft" is in the subtlety... With that said I indeedly found a couple of the Cowboys reviews "subtle enough" some time ago.

I think you would have a very hard time finding many comedians and comedic entertainers that would agree with that statement, including those who's comedy would be considered "family friendly."

And I certainly don't give a poop if someone is offended by my own creative art.

No, no, no... you took it out of the context. I was referring on the "I don't givee..." part, not the "to offend part".

No offense, kind person, but... I've read that post a billion times and I have no idea what you're trying to say.
