Oh you're silly. The reason I put my picture on here is because I like to know who I'm talking to and I figure everyone else does too. I love it when you guys put your faces on here. It's happened occasionally. :(

I like this stream because finally, after a year and a half, I managed to get a picture up. I had always tried using Firefox and couldn't understand why it didn't work.

The cute guy to the left is me. I'm two years old and very mature for my age. Actually, it's my son Benji. And, no, he is not named after the FWFR CEO, I named him Benji even before I discovered this site.

Well, having an ego the size of Jupiter, of course both my avatars have been me ... though anyone who's met me knows I sure don't resemble EITHER of 'em these days!

The baby one was ... oh nearly 65 years ago ... and the current one was when I was in my late 30's.

Inside -- I'm still convinced I'm 14. Tops!

Can you give me some tips on getting some ego? The thing I hear most from people is "Wow, you really hate yourself".

Hi Tori!
First - please don't think when I mentioned my ego I was in ANY way implying that was the reason for your posting pix of yourself. I think your explanation of wanting occasionally to get a glimpse of who we're talking to is perfectly valid in and of itself. And I apologize if it came across in any negative way.

As to getting some ego ... of course, I know you hardly at all, but the little I do tells me you're making a beautiful and satisfying life doing the things you love amid the people you love who clearly love you back. You're a lovely young woman with all the signs of a positive future. That should go a looooooooooong way to helping the healing, which I do know from experience is a never-ending process.

My own mammoth ego is nothing healthy and I recognize that, despite not being able to squash it like the bug it can be. It's lots more controlled these days than it used to be.

Among the many reasons for its evolution:
A dysfunctional home life
A covering of deep insecurities by adopting a profession dedicated to presenting myself as other people even though it's also one based on a bedrock of rejection
A barely controllable inability to cope with more than three or four other people at a time without feeling the misplaced need to perform and/or compete whether it's welcome or not

And I'm sure there are more.

So -- are you really sure you're not talking about confidence? About strengthening a sense of self-worth?

These are such complex issues, and our popular culture tends to trivialize them. They're too often masked beneath celebrity headlines turning people into freaks on show when they're really part of more serious concerns of anorexia, various addictions, and the anomie that contributes to petty and serious crime.

Oops ... didn't mean to write one of my essays.

Anyway ... I sense your grasp on what you've learned will help you in your life is strong. And that can only be good!

Have a lovely rest of the w/e!
Cheers

I'm not offended, I knew you weren't directing it at me. I guess developing ego takes hard knocks and in the end isn't such a good thing. But I'd like to think a lot higher of myself than I currently do and no matter what I try it doesn't work. I guess confidence WOULD be the thing I'm seeking though a little bit of ego wouldn't hurt I guess. :)

I do have a lot of people who love me but there are more who don't. I've been abandoned by family and friendless my entire life. That certainly doesn't help. :)

You're beautiful and I don't mind your ego. :) I don't even think it's ego. :)

Baffy, you can't be an actor w/o an ego. And BTW: once a babe, always a babe!

Tori, you are stone cold beautiful, but if you don't like a pic of yourself, please give us Torifans time to download it before you remove it!

Re my own countenance, it used to be found in the Gal, the Gal, the Gal, the Gal, the Gal Gal Gallery [hope there are some Straits fans left], but I can't upload graphics here right now, hence my lo-tech avatar. [My fotos have been sent to other fwiffer technophiles, and they have uploaded.] So when benj gets it up and running again, you'll be able to see me...in the Gallery! [Appropriate Knopfler finger-picked fills here.]

And once I finally get a new computer, you'll probably see many more shots of Peter Sellers, as I used to use as avatars, from one of my favorite movies, to match "me in four words."
