Tsk, tsk, my editor friend - that should be millennium!

As for being a 'smarthead', I never paid much attention to the whole "2000 v 2001" thing. But I do have a highly opinionated and totally nerdy, geeky brother who went ballistic every time anyone said that the 21st century would start on January 1, 2000. He went on and on about it and I guess some of it stuck with me. Makes sense to me. I've never counted anything starting with zero!

Thursday's Children

Notes:
Brian's Song: About the friendship of US football players Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayres, and the death of Piccolo from cancer. Considered by some to be the ultimate "okay to cry" film for men.

Throw Momma From the Train:
DeVito offers to kill Crystal's wife if Crystal kills DeVito's momma - Criss cross.

Delta Farce: Three bumbling Army reservists bound for Iraq are accidentally dropped at Mexican village besieged by hostile forces. Stars Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall, members of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (with Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White).

Before you ask, yes, I know what bodkin actually means. It's still funny.

The Wyatt Earp review has some hidden meanings. Writer-director Kasdan had an uncredited cameo - search the IMDB page to find out what it was. Also, there's a double meaning to the last word - look at the third entry.

Morning all.

Hints, if needed:

Oh! What A Lovely War: A musical about WW1.
Parade: Jacques Tati's final movie.

Chris forgot to tell you that in the UK there's a famous comedian called Ken Dodd who's got a sign-off catch-phrase "Tatty-bye."

PS - And, by the way, Koli -- do you mean you've been reminded that next Wednesday is my 65th birthday?!

Thanks for that, Baffy, I was a bit bleary-eyed this morning. It was Mrs C's birthday yesterday.

Thanks Redpen... I didn't mean to imply Liam was Lancelot, just one of the knights (since they're jousting and all).

Once I had my own firm, called The Millennium Company, begun in 1982 and sold to another in 1988. For that long, I've known how to spell a word I might have well missed before: two Ls, two Ns. So imagine my dismay when, as the big K drew nigh, (1) many well-meaning [publishing business] people constantly tried to make sure I knew how to spell the word -- I DO, goddammit!; and (2) a now-red-faced Manhattan hotel took out full-page NYTimes ads which, like many human spellers, were lacking the final N. This was after logo design, etc.; they had to redo their EVERYTHING.

They could have just asked me...
