How about Olive Thomas?
WOW! What a find! I'll definitely put her in ... even though it will take the acc into a different league in terms of number of films. She's just too good to leave out. BIG THANKS, CL!!!

Not sure how great his potential was, but Brandon Lee?
Thanks, Cheesy ... in he goes! Lots of buzz at the time, I recall, about his untapped potential, and he certainly had the kind of screen appeal that would have made him a cross-over to mainstream cinema.
Many thanks!

In that case I better try to put my affairs in order.
Now, let's see, was Mary before Jane or was it the other way around?

Judy Holliday.
Sorry, Lem ... much as I absolutely adore her ... her career spanned over too long a period and she'd already achieved major star status ... though, I agree, she'd probably have gone on to ...
you know, I was going to say she'd have gone on to a rich and varied film career into her old age ... but then I thought of people like Barbara Bel Geddes, or even Lauren Bacall ... so what she probably would have gone on to would have been as a running character in a sit com .... or, heaven forfend, as a comedy turn in an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical
Sigh ....

Can't agree with John Candy. From Silent Partner, his first significant role, to Wagons East is 16 years-- a longer movie career than Judy Holliday. He was also a major TV star, at least here in his home town where the best of Second City was produced. |

Even if it's too late - here are some others who died young. Whether they had bigger, better things in the future isn't always clear:
Bruce Lee Dominique Dunne Jean Harlow Sharon Tate Jayne Mansfield Freddie Prinze Andy Kaufman Bobby Darin Rudolph Valentino
I have to agree about John Candy having already peaked. |

Yup, you and CheeseEd are right ... sorry, duh ... tomorrow I will re-evaluate the list, taking into account some of CE's.
