Hope y'all like this for an idea:

Assuming you have more than one page of FWFRs [but it could work even if you don't] ...

1. Look at the top-rank of your SECOND PAGE. Pick ONE film you think deserves to be on your first page - as sorted by votes received.

2. Isolate that film* and present the link in this thread WITH ...

3. AN EXPLANATION OF WHY YOU LIKE IT.

Who knows, your wish may come true

I'll start with One Hour Photo

I like this because it's snappy in two words and two ways and works on two levels. The film features Robin [Williams] who works in one of the fast-service photograph developers. He also goes loopy.

* It's been covered before how to do this, but here's a step-by-step recap:
1. Go to the page featuring everyone's reviews of your chosen film.
2. Select Reviewer Name for the page display.
3. Find your own review and count which number it is on the page.
4. Up at the top url display you'll see something like this [it's the one I've used for my link above]:
http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?sort=2&dir=2&id=1698&Mode=&Rows=1&Start=11
5. See where it says Start=11 ... change that numeral to whatever you counted in step 3, and press go.
6. Your new page should now start with your chosen review.
7. NOW, to eliminate all the other reviews still showing, go up to the url display again and see where it says Rows=100.
8. Change that to Rows=1
9. Your new page should now have only your chosen review displayed. Copy that url and use it as your link for this thread.

HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!

I haven't pimped for votes in a while

Ultimate judge gives '10' for The Ten comandments

Why do I like it? Not sure - I like simple reviews that mean something different in context than out of context

Bafta, I'll see your One Hour Photo review (though unfortunately I've already voted for it), and I'll raise you one more.

I like this review because not only are his actions (duplicating customer's photos) indecent, but there are of course the accompanying sexual overtones.

P.S. Bife, I have already voted for your great review as well.

Good stuff, both chazbo and bife. I hope others will play, too

Ho ho horny

I like this one because it it is accurate (if hyperbolic) on the surface and also works as "XYZ = anagram of YZX".

I'll go with this one for Chinatown.

The main reason I like it is because it reminds me of playing this prequel/sequel game with my high school buddies, coming up with movies like The 40 Steps, Black Monday, or, a personal favorite, Zaire, which could be either a sequel or prequel to Congo.

Also, it reminds me of the review of mine (along the same lines) that garnered the most votes of any of my reviews in any FYCTH - 'The B/W of Money' for The Hustler.

After much messing around I finally was able to do this for Silence of the Lambs:

http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?start=77&id=34&Mode=&Sort=2&Rows=1&Dir=1&do=

I think I've put this up before for consideration, but I don't remember. I like it because I think it's a good pun and such a ridiculous understatement of Buffalo Bill's character.

Nice Game!

This one I think would sit very nicely on my top page.

I think it's self explanatory - it's accurate to the film but has an amusing double meaning. It's also concise.

This is great. I looked at many that I think could make one laugh or would get me more votes here, but in truth the one that I'm most proud of is not as popular as I thought it might be. So I am going to do the nefarious deed of deconstructing (and perhaps ruining) it here:

Tucci caches Czech

Stanley Tucci retains Hanks character Viktor Navorski. The national origin of this character is actually kept vague, but "former soviet" is a fair assumption. (Hanks was doing Russian tinged with Bulgarian accent)

Tucci caches Czech -->
Tushy caches Czech -->
Tushy cashes Czech -->
Tushy cashes check

Inspired by the phrase, a kind of bar-room brawl starting pistol: "Your mouth is writing checks that your ass can't cash."

No, it is specified - just fictional. He comes from Krakozhia. Real-world elements of his background are Bulgarian, Russian and Byelarussian.

I've always been fond of this review for Shakespeare in Love.

It's concise, references a film in which a woman pretends to be a man pretending to be a woman, which is ultimately what Viola does in order to be in Romeo and Juliet at the end. It also tells you without knowing the title that it is about a Shakespeare by referencing the place he was born.

Is this going to be a weekly thing? Daily? Can I just keep on posting reviews til you're sick of it. BaftaBabe gets to decide

Gosh, I dunno! I just love the idea and am so pleased many of you do , too! I've voted for all the ones I had missed before ... some really lovely stuff on display.

I don't believe it would be fair [or possible] to make it competitive ... but it could just be one of those threads that keeps on recurring, like MIHAI. I'd be happy to host it or we could do a round-robin ... shall we keep it on Wednesdays? What do you all think?

Again, in the MIHAI tradition, it could be SAMOU

Ok, I'm game.

I've always had a soft spot for this one. Why do I like it? I just think it's one of my better efforts from my early days, and a half decent play on words.
