For cold, controlled anger laced with pure contempt, try Alec Baldwin's pep talk in Glengarry Glen Ross, which you can watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-AXTx4PcKI
How about Al Pacino going off on Kevin Spacey later in the same movie for letting the fish off the hook that Al had been reeling in ever so slow? "You fairy!" |

"You c**t! You fucking child!"
Brilliant, brings to mind the old joke about David Mamet:
William Shakespeare: To be, or not to be,--that is the question:--whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?
David Mamet: Fuck You!

that's a good one. Roma also asks him, "Who ever told you you could work with men?"
also a couple of good ones by Denzel. from "Man on Fire": "I'm gonna kill 'em. Anyone that was involved. Anybody who profited from it. Anybody who opens their eyes at me." and "Training Day": "You disloyal, fool-ass, bitch-made punk."

Actually, I heard it a little differently. Try this take next time:
BUM ON A STREET CORNER: Spare change, mister? SUPERCILIOUS WALL STREET TYPE: "Neither a borrower nor a lender be. William Shakespeare." BUM: "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you. David Mamet." |

i didn't wanna start a new Glengarry thread, so i figured this was as good a place as any to talk about it. a local theater is putting on Glengarry Glen Ross on stage. we have tickets for excellent seats and i'm as tickled as can be. my girlfriend has never seen the movie, so i think she's in for a treat. and i refuse to let her watch my dvd before the play. she has been warned about the liberal use of profanity. one thing i found out while reading up on the play -- Baldwin's character, Blake, was not in the play and was added to the screenplay by Mamet. i wonder if they've incorporated him into live performances. the play here will feature William Mapother, don't know which part, who has appeared in 'Lost.' |

Mapother has a rather well-known relative too. |

we had a blast at Glengarry. one thing that i thought was kinda odd -- on stage, some of it was pretty funny, especially from the Aaronow character, while the movie wasn't funny at all. the actor who played Levene was great. here's a preview posted by the theater:
