Just got back from a night in front of yellow people. No spoilers from me, I'd just like to say I really enjoyed it. Like a lot of movies of this type, there are some great references to other movies, plus a fair number of proper laugh-out-loud gags.

In my defence, I'm only a part time Simpsons watcher, not a huge fan. This was a very good effort from the whole family.

I always knew Springfield HAD to be somewhere in New England.

As an obsessive Simpsons fan, I agree that the movie is terrific fun: simultaneously frantic and sentimental, not to mention very funny throughout. I wouldn't dream of spoiling any of the specific plot details or surprises in the film. Too much has already been given away in the commercials. If you are -- or were -- a fan of the TV show, go and see it. I will say that the movie does not require a comprehensive knowledge of Simpsons arcana, though diehard fans will not be disappointed. It is accessible to anyone who has a basic knowledge of the show's main characters and situations.

The movie looks to become a smash hit. The first showing I attempted to see was sold out; the one I actually did see was filled to near-capacity, and the audience's reaction was extremely positive.

The Simpsons Movie (Please could people always add a link to the page whenever they start a thread about a film?)

I really enjoyed it too. Lots of laughing out loud. I wonder why it has quite a low score here.

My main disappointment was that we hardly see anything of some of the characters. I don't think much could have been done about that, though.

Will post a review soon-ish, but just to say I did enjoy it! As you know, I'm a South Park kinda girl, but there are some wonderful Homer moments here, and I felt Groening and the gang really enjoyed lifting the lid a tad on tv restrictions.

It turns out you can teach an old plot new jokes.

Just got back from this myself. I'm a Simpsons fan and was not dissapointed even though I was half prepared to be so. It shot by like a half hour episode and it's a while since I've heard an audience laugh out loud at the cinema.

The TV show is a big hit here and this movie is in the theatres here, but I've never been much of a fan myself. I could send the kids to see it, but I've heard mixed things about it.

Some laugh out loud gags such as Homer's view " More than two shakes..."

I mentioned this on another thread, too, but many, MANY of the reviews for The Simpsons Movie are inaccurate.

Edit: And going over them once more, all but one of the inaccurate reviews belong to thefoxboy. Shame on you!

(The other one belongs to Josh The Cat)

I get the feeling that foxy wrote those reviews when the film was still in 'concept' phase, and the proposed storyline at the time involved Marge getting prgnant. Always a danger when writing reviews for films that haven't yet been released - they turn out to be inaccurate when the film is released

Yeah -- and considering both tfb and jtc's avatars, I'm guessing babies were on their minds

But perhaps all those inaccurate FWFRs might be deleted by their owners to provide better role models for newbies.

I suppose -- she suggested sweetly -- that if people are determined to write reviews so long b4 films are actually released, they might remain in a [different kind of] pending pile b4 they're approved. Just a thought ...

Uhm ... actually -- unless JTC's inaccurate FWFR has already been removed -- his seems perfectly fine to me. Apologies JTC.

That was never a proposed storyline. I am not sure, but I think I added the film to the site just after the first teaser, at which point the flick was well past the concept/development stages, anyway.

The page here would be better since one can also access the I.M.D.B. page from there.

Have I forgotten something? Homer doesn't lose his job, does he?
