I just hit the wall! [grumble] Is this a new thing (I have noticed it's been taking AGES to get anything approved) or has there always been a 20 reviews a week limit? |

It was implimented not too long ago by Benj to help lessen the load on the MERPs. But don't worry - to paraphrase Scarlet O'Hara "tomorrow is another week" (meaning the week starts on Mondays).

Yeah, but MERPS still hardly approve anything anymore. |

Yes, it does seem like the MERPs are on the slow side, but then I think, they were probably getting hundreds, if not thousands of reviews every week. Plus, I understand that they're all volunteers, doing it on their spare time. Capping the maximum number of reviews we submit per week should help - in the long run - but until they catch up, we really should try to be patient.

I've had none approved for about three weeks now, I'm guessing that the MERPS are on some kind of holiday/team bonding exercise.

I've noticed that all my recent approvals have been coming in strictly in order of submission of first pass, so perhaps they are concentrating on the oldest waiting for approval at the moment. That's currently the first week of June for me. The second pass reviews continue to congeal like fat at the bottom of the pan. |

All of my recent approvals have also been first pass. I don't particularly pay attention to the second pass ones unless I've decided to delete and resubmit them with the explanation included. I have been doing that to one or two a week lately. However, I do know that the first pass approvals aren't particularly from earliest submitted. The recent Nancy Drew approvals are an example. If I wasn't so busy trying to pack and move, I'd be more concerned, but I know that when Benj gets back from his extended honeymoon, things will likely move smoother. |

Lady MeerKat,
Benj put in the 20 reviews a week as a temporary rule. I'm guessing it's because he's off for three months travelling around the world and won't be spending much time near a computer.
He never said exactly how long the limit will last. There has only been a handful of times that I've actually hit the wall. I don't mind the rule if it makes things easier for Benj and the MERPs. |

I just had my first approval today in about a week, so there must be some MERPs out there who are working instead of enjoying the summer... |

I think what I find most discomforting is when I've added a new film with a review and then find that other's reviews are approved for it while mine sit in the pile. |

I've been back less than a week and a thread questioning / complaining about approvals has appreared. Was there one whilst I was away or is this the first one in just over a month?
The MERPs do this for fun, they don't get paid, Benj is away having / enjoying life, and of course there is also the small point that all of this is free!!
Why do we do this complain and question what is not particulary unusual or unacceptable.
I accept that the thread did not start with a complaint merely a question, but this sort of thing always seems to get to complaints, 'I haven't had a approved in .....' get over it and accept that at times things are not as fast as you hope!
Just enjoy the site and be patient.

I had no idea there was a 20 review limit since I have never bumped into it before. That why I asked. Useful to know that I can start a new week today :)
I too have noticed that 2nd pass reviews also sit untouched for a VERY long time (3-4 months). It would have to be because 1st pass review take precedance over them. I now rephrase them, pop an explanation on them and submit them anew. I give many of my reviews a little explanation/justification to avoid getting passed over in the first place. It's not that I'm obscure but I don't expect every MERP to have seen every film or noticed a particular nuance, piece of trivia being referred to in my review.
Oh yeah, and I think a 20 review limit per week is fine. I had expected to find this info in the FAQ. My inclination is to make it a permanent thing in order to avoid these traffic jams. |

Hey Josh,
Dont even ask. The dust has just settled. You don't want to stir up things again. There have been threads, but they ended up among the missing. You missed out on all the drama. It's better not to know. |

Nope, it wasn't because of that. It was because of the general backlog. |
