Ladies and Gentlemen
We now have the perfect murders, 34 of them in fact. You can collect all the weapons here.
Have fun!
Thanks again to all who helped.

Sorry to say, but I think you're far from done on that accolade- we've barely touched on the long history of elaborate kills from horror films and the James Bond series
Also, I'm not sure Fargo should count- the woodchipper was simply used for disposal, not the actual kill
P.S. Others I just thought of:
Se7en (the dildo springs to mind) Raiders (propellor) Temple of Doom (rock crusher) The Haunting (pendulum decapitation) |

Yes, you're absolutely right -- I just thought I should get it started and add to it. You're right about Fargo, too ... my brain is tapioca
I WILL add all the films in your P.S.
I may put a cap on the acc, though - just to make it within the bounds of achievability -- maybe just a canny selection of horror. Or - maybe slice the acc in two and do a horror-only version. Hmmm .... will think on't this w/e.

Latest Murder Scoop >I've removed Fargo >I've added most of your PS films EXCEPT >Raiders - because - unless I'm misremembering - it was a death but not a murder - this acc isn't about unusual ways to get killed, but focuses on the choice of weapon by the murderer - choice being the operative word. >The Haunting - because I'm pretty well convinced I won't include films where the murder or victim isn't human ... and that's why - sadly, because they're such wonderful examples of unusual deaths - I'm removing The Final Destination series >I've reconsidered murders of the undead - since logically they can't be killed and the assumption is they'll be back at some point.
So - let's say the new criterion is that someone could hypothetically be put on trial for murder using unusual weapons external to themselves. This may also serve to cut down on the plethora of horror films.
I realize that if someone's in a fight and kills the opponent with an unusual murder weapon - that could be classed as self-defense. But if the fight was intended by either victim or perp to be a fight to the death -- so that someone was going to die anyway - then I guess it's legit in terms of this acc. I know it's stretching a legal point, but ...
I'm thinking, for example, that if there's a domestic argument and one party pushes the other with enough force to knock them out and to save them coming round hits them over the head with a vase ... AND it kills them ... that doesn't count. Because in a trial the perp's lawyer would plead manslaughter.
So, we're dealing with intention.
And speaking of dildoes -- can anyone remember whether the Droogies actually kill Miriam Karlin with one or does she die from the fight?
IF we get up to 50 I'll chang the name of the acc to 50 Murder Weapons? so it doesn't get too unwieldy.
My gratitude to you all knows no bounds

If you're putting in Peeping Tom, you should have Horrors of the Black Museum where a woman is killed in the opening sequence with a very leathal pair of binoculars. |

ChrisC is indeed correct for Bourne 1. Sadly neither Bourne 2's newspaper pummelling or Bourne 3's book incapacition would count as confirmed kills though.
The Lethal Weapon in question I believe was number 3 which featured a showdown on a construction site.
You are a gentleman and a scholar [PhD in murder ... hmmmm] Thanks, benj!
Just did a quick check on the DVDs
The Bourne Identity is almost correct: Bourne does indeed fight with a ballpoint pen, and incapacitates the victim. However, said victim then gets up and throws himself out of the window.
LW3 was the movie I also had in mind, but Lethal Weapon 2 is the correct one. Danny Glover is rebuilding his house after the toilet bomb, and gets attacked by the South African heavies, (which led to this review).
Vote pimping? Probably.
Shameless? Never. |

I'm wondering why no one thought of these before:
In the Harry Potter movies there are several unusual ways people died.
Also, I'm sure that despite a deluge of swords and arrows, certainly someone in one of the Lord of the Rings movies died in some more exotic way or another. |

They might plead manslaughter, but they'd be lucky to get it - unless it were a proper case of battered wife syndrome. |

Thinking of the propellor in Raiders, was that murder? Indy was just fighting him. |

I suspect you're correct
As I've posted elsewhere - this week's a bit fraught for me, but I will return to tidy this one up.
Thanks yet again to all for helping.
