Carry on chaps
A bunch of reviews from the Carry On series of films. Much loved by Brits of a certain age and completely beyond the understanding of most non-Brits. The key is they're very simple slapstick humour, laden with some truly filthy double entendres
Carry On Regardless Alliterative, in a key scene Joan Sims is at a wine tasting trying to be classy, but swallows each glass and gets completely sloshed Carry On Cowboy Alliterative, Rumpo hires local Indians to make trouble Carry On Screaming It's the comedian's version of the Hammer horror films, and of course they 'hammer' every horror cliche Carry On Henry Sir Roger De-Lodger 'comforts' the queen and gets to 'know' her very well Carry On Constable Early on there's a mix-up between 2 as their beats cross. Beats meat is of course a euphemism...

Pssst... over here
Sleepers- Kevin Bacon plays a C.O. in a Juvenile detention center.
Girl in the cafe- bill Nighy lands a date at the local cafe, who turns out to be more than he bargained for.
Grilled- Kevin James & Ray Romano play meat salesmen, who'll do anything to close a sale.
Possible spoiler in 'Sleepers' |

V&V to here.
Cankle, I loved "Boys in the bubble" (Bio-Dome). It deserves more votes. |

Thanks Yukon... that's huge coming from a reviewer who consistently churns out gems.
Also VV to this point |

Exercise your right to VOTE!!!!
Notes: Alistair Sim, probably most famous for playing Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, played a nervous-wreck bishop in The Ruling Class. Madolyn (heavy lustful sigh) Smith played Chevy Chase's wife in Funny Farm. Ghosts of Mississippi was probably Alec Baldwin's first real great performance since Hunt for Red October. |

Hey! Hey! You! You! I don't like my FYC's Hey! Hey! You! You! I think I need some new ones.
Background:
- I had an alternate review of Silence & Fear: Aung San Suu Kyi which would have been "Myanmar shadow", but there's a limit to groaners.
- Primary Colors is a thinly fictionalized account of the first presidential run of William Jefferson Clinton.
- I had a pile of high-vote-getting reviews about this time 3 years ago, and somehow this Toy Story review didn't do as well as I expected. Perhaps with a new audience...

I long ago said how good your Battle Royale one was (and half wish I had chosen it in Ali's thread instead of your Dam Busters one) - it's quite astonishing that it does not have more votes. (I've also voted on your Black Sheep one, but the aforementioned ones are in a different league and should certainly have more votes.) |

That's very kind of you Sal. Actually it was your mentioning the "Dam Busters" one that made me pop it in this round, as I'm sure you realise - it was sitting at the pre-20 mark with others I wanted to push. I don't actually remember your praise for my Casino Royale review now. Interesting because, as you say, it's wide of the top of that film's reviews, and only placed at the bottom of my top-third of reviews. Glad you like it though. I'll give a fresh airing in a future FYC and see if it grabs any more attention. |

I'd already voted on all of these, so I found five other reviews of yours to vote on.
(And I'm finding there are very few of your reviews I haven't voted on! V&V to here.) |
