SA:MOU = Self-Assessment: Moving On Up
DA ROOLZ
1. Look at the top-rank reviews of ANY OF YOUR PAGES. Pick ONE film you think deserves to move up to the next page - as sorted by votes received. This means that even one vote will "move it up." You are urged to say which page from the top you've chosen.

2. Isolate that film* and present the link in this thread WITH ...

3. AN EXPLANATION OF WHY YOU LIKE IT. Not an explanation of the review ... but of WHY YOU LIKE IT.

Who knows, your wish may come true

* It's been covered before how to do this, but here's a step-by-step recap:
1. Go to the page featuring everyone's reviews of your chosen film.
EITHER
2. From the drop-down display options choose My Reviews Only. [this method is ONLY if you have one review for your chosen film]

OR
2. Select Reviewer Name for the page display.
3. Find your own review and count which number it is on the page.
4. Up at the top url display you'll see something like this:
http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?sort=2&dir=2&id=1698&Mode=&Rows=1&Start=11
5. See where it says Start=11 ... change that numeral to whatever you counted in step 3, and press go.
6. Your new page should now start with your chosen review.
7. NOW, to eliminate all the other reviews still showing, go up to the url display again and see where it says Rows=100.
8. Change that to Rows=1

3. Your new page should now have only your chosen review displayed. Copy that url and use it as your link for this thread.

HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!

This
is from my very bottom page and features off-screen couple Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon - two of my fave actors - in a creepy tale of fire-starting. I like it because, although the pun is a bit obvious - in this case I think it not only implies the destructive nature of passion, but - she sighs nostalgically - it reminds me of my own ventures too close to burning love.

On top of my second page, I love this pun on the name of my mostest favouritest organelle of all time.

"At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking"

From the top of my last page. I really like 'Shaun Of The Dead' and for some reason, this pun reminds me of the above quote.

From my third page, this one seemed very clever when I submitted it, but now I like it even more, since lots of people have been using the same pun for the movie 30 Days of Night.

On top of my 4th page, I like the pun on the film name and how it evokes the major theme of the film.

try this (just limit it to 1 row = rows means # of reviews to display):
http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?uid=7202&id=16590&Mode=&Sort=3&Rows=1&Dir=1&Start=1

Bette, what were you thinking?!

From now on I only choose zeroes, 'cuz they dominate my queue.
I like this review cuz it took me a little while to get the wording correct, even tho I knew which direction I wanted to go with it. Having re-visited it, I now realize the imperfections that warrant a rewrite that'll never come...

Funny thing, Mutha... I remember voting for this the first time I saw it and immediately thinking of the Dr. Evil quote you listed above... Since I already hit this one, I'll scan your pages and find some other review(s) to reward...

I like this one for Butch, cuz it puns the reunion film for the duo of Newman and Redford.

I have always liked this review. It is concise and simple. Rod Steiger plays the pope, hence 'Papal Rod'. Bot haven't you noticed that almost anytime you see a picture of the pope there is a staff or crozier in his hand? Another papal rod.

Not to be confused, by the way, with the rod in my Matt Helm avatar or with 'Rod in a dress' from another thread.

Way back on page 23.

I seem to have a real problem predicting what people will like and what they don't. The reviews I'm most proud of aren't always the ones with the most votes - although they do seem to be more likely to be slow burners and pick up votes gradually over time.

This one did okay, but not great. I like it just because of the image of all the cavemen showing their appreciation for Raquel's unnatural curves in much the same way as modern man: "UG". And also because of the image of cavemen doing a group hug I guess.
