Assuming there's dancing in it, I'll vote for your Anastasia one if you change the spelling to Tsars. |

Czar is certainly an acceptable spelling - I think Tsar is stronger given the similar spelling to Star, but Czar is an acceptable alternate spelling - at least in America.
In fact on the imdb page: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0118617/
The character's name is listed as Czar Nicholas Romanov II.
So what's your beef? |

As an academic in a family of English teachers, I love word debates.
As turrell notes, czar is a widely used and acceptable version of tsar, so the review is technically correct.
As an academic, I wondered which one was the "better" translation.
I started reading about this on Wikipedia and quickly stopped, after concluding that one could probably write a paper weighing the merits of tsar vs czar.
Then I noticed, thanks to turrell and Sal, that tsar is actually an anagram of star, thus making the review better (I think).
It's been resubmitted with the new spelling.

Leftovers
Notes: Stanley Kramer directed both Inherit the Wind and Judgement at Nuremberg. The plot of Modern Times is close enough to that of Nous La Libert that the producers of the latter sued Chaplin (and got him to settle).

Since he removed it before I could vote, I don't know which Anastasia movie you're talking about. However, if it is the horrid animated version, then yes, there is dancing in the movie. From the thread, I can assume that the review was "Dancing with Czars", and have used that spelling myself - "Irving gives Czar-y performance." for Anastasia: The Mystery Of Anna as well as "Better dead than Czar-y?" for the animated one. I would have voted on that review no matter the spelling.

Hehehe. But I have to admit that I wasn't happy with "30 Rock" to begin with, since I had my suspicions that its success kept people away from watching the superior "Studio 60" and I sort of blamed "30 Rock" for "Studio 60's" demise. I know that's not really the case now, and have come to enjoy "30 Rock" as well.

Five zeroes . . . including one tribute!
One note: The final section of "Fantasia" starts out in Hell to the tune of "Night on Bald Mountain," and changes to Heaven and "Ave Maria." |

I love, love, LOVE 30 Rock. And even though I am a huge Aaron Sorkin fan, he had only himself to blame for the failure of the ultra-smug Studio 60.

Fricking genius.

You've answered your own question. At no point did I say czar was an unacceptable spelling. Indeed, although it's the much less common one here, it's my favoured one in neutral contexts. |
