some stragglers
tips:
Golden Voyage of Sinbad: Tom Baker (Dr Who) is Koura the magician - is somewhat of conman (to the characters in the film at least)
Clash of the Titans: The 'stony stare' is from the head of Medusa, which turns the Kraken to stone (and then it cracks up)
Tenebre: Franciosa is a writer of a murder novel which starts coming true. 'Killer' is used meaning 'great' as well as it being literal
Hercules Returns: if you haven't seen this Australian film, then see it. It's hysterical. The Aussie accents refer to the voiceovers given by the characters trying to salvage the showing of an old Italian 'hero' movie that arrives for its showing without sound.
Cry Wolf: a rather angry, teenage character in this film uses various types of modern technology (computer, phones etc) to assist with psychotic revenge tactics |

I LOVE your Manoir du Diable review, but I wonder how many fwfrers know that MOS is film slang for silent? Unproven cine-legend has it that it stands for Mit Out Sound, a mispronunciation of Without Sound by early German directors.
What can I say? I went to film school.
I loved the comment by Kevin Murphy of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000:
"There'll be a reference that nobody but a few people will get -- but those few people will say, THEY'RE INSIDE MY MIND!!!" That may be one reason I remain mum on explanations -- but thanx for that one!
EDIT: In a similar vein, my MISS POTTER review is only for those of a certain age who can truly understand it, probably on this side of the pond only. For you few worthies, I say, salud! |

"Doctor DeSoto" is a children's story about a mouse that's a doctor. When reading my review, think about another children's story about a doctor who can talk to animals.
Clash of the Titans features a robotic owl that speaks in beeps and tones. The character was obviously inspired by a similar character in Star Wars. |

Hyman Roth has been dying from the same heart attack for the last twenty years.
Remember how last week I was so proud of having a review with musical notes in it? Well, it got pulled. C'est la vie.
So along with 2 newbies, I've added 3 reviews with somewhat irregular characters.
Background: - Hard Candy was I believe Ellen Page's first starring American role. She kidnaps a rapist and threatens to castrate him. - One other note, that doesn't help explain a review, but does provide interesting background. Both Britons & Americans are familiar with "Dennis the Menace", but conjure drastically different images. American think of a cute blonde kid about 3 or 4 wearing overalls who stars in a single panel comic. Britons think of a nasty young lad with black curly hair who always wore a horizontally striped red & black shirt who appears in the Beano. Both were created about the same time. What, if anything, do Aussies think of? |

note: Rangoon, capitol of Myanmar, means "free from strife".
Um, actually the capitol is Naypyidaw, and Rangoon (aka Yangoon) is its largest city.

I didn't get it the first time, but after this prompted a second look, I did.

Yeah, I got that one too, Randall!
(Ready for tomorrow's round. Got a bunch of newly accepted reviews to put up.)
((Oh, and Livie - if you put up the next one, try using beige instead of pink!))
