Wow, that's a lot of Fangs for the Mammaries reviews. I'm sure there's a joke about good mammaries but it's eluding me.

I'm turfing my review--don't want to be the nth iteration of it.

Actually, while many renditions of the song do use "heaven", Cole did indeed write "God", according to numerous sources-- including Cole (p. 127), edited by Robert Kimball, with a biographical essay by Brendan Gill, published in 1971 by Holt, Rinehart & Winston.
