Wow! I've just had my Iron Man review rejected for the reason 'Too strong a reference to The Big Lebowski'!

Does this mean all rejections will now explain specifically why they were turned down? Does it also mean weak references to other movies are acceptable?

I feel like I've missed some recent big development with the site ... and I'll bet it's a reponse to all the grumblings about the MERPS.

Can someone enlighten me?

The wording you got is a bit odd, but if "This review is overly reliant on knowledge of another film" fits, then it might be fair.

"Obediah gets Stark mad"? How does that refer to Lebowski??? (I voted for your review, by the way.) Unless it was originally something like "Dude gets Stark mad." I could see a reference in that and could see arguments both ways, but I'd probably recommend that for approval.

The one that got rejected was 'Dude does not abide'

I'm not surprised they binned it - I was just surprised by the super-specific rejection reason.

Dude! That's got Lebowski all over it. I was just about to go into a full-fledged rant about how all the MERPs should be killed, but now ....

Well, it seems the MERP process is working: I understood and voted for the revised review.

As I noted in the Iron Man review thread, when Pepper is downloading Obidiah's files, one of the memos is from a Mr. Lebowski.
