Does this happen to other people, or is the problem exclusively Salopian-related?
It has happened to me, yes. Rarely, but when it has, it has annoyed the crap out of me - I would rather get a rejection and have the chance to resubmit, than have a review passed in my name that I didn't write.
And yes Sal, you should delete. As everyone knows it is not an obligation under the 'rules' of the site, but it is the right thing to do. |

Cheers MERPs for assisting us, Salopian some people try to help and I choose not to complain about that.
With all due respect, Josh, I have never had any good reason to suspect that any MERP's spelling or grammar is better than mine overall. And more to the point, neither have they. |

I would never Smithee anything as that is a terrible thing to do, but I got rid of it a few days ago. |

Ah, that makes me feel better. Did you delete it afterwards (always a mistake) then, since mine could exist in that form? Anyway, you can change yours now, or ask Benj to do so here.
Incidentally, I tried a variant, "2 much 2 bear" (not because I thought it was particularly good, but because I might as well if I was going to get rid of my other one). The MERP rejected that as too generic, saying that it could apply to Care Bear films! It's actually less generic than our other ones, since it can only apply to the first sequel.
Benj, the new MERP still does not seem to understand that under the new rules applying to two or three films does not invalidate a review. |

I really don't think that's true for the reasons I have already outlined -- the modified version only works for the third person singular positive statement form, and then only phonetically. The phrase to bear repeating is in fact far more likely to occur in the negative or question form ("It doesn't bear repeating"; "His words don't bear repeating"; "Does it bear repeating?") -- neither of those nor the plural nor the infinitive has the -s inflection.
It would be different if I were trying to imply that "Bears repeating" applies to the film rather than just using any old pun, but that would be insane. Indeed, an additional problem with the modified review was the potential impression that I thought that. |

It's not a question of being better overall, it's a question of whether any of us are infallible. Obviously, none of us are (even your good self- as an email exchange between us a while back showed) and therefore I consider a different set of eyes over something as a good thing. |

If I make an actual error, they are welcome to correct it -- so long as they remember that dictionaries know better than their own heads. As I mentioned in the e-mail, and have also often said here, I frequently make typos -- the point is that I re-read reviews but not normally messages. Anyway, the case here was one of taste, not correctness. |
