So exciting- I even got a review on the cover - my parents will be so proud - after I explain to them what FWFR is and how cool it is - it may take time but they'll be proud! |

I'm quite thrilled. I just got some copies in the mail and was able to hold the book for the first time.
According the Amazon.com, the book will be in stock on July 19, so people may be able to order a copy sooner than I thought. |

Looks like it'll be on shelves in NZ in October. Think I'll have got mine long before then though. |

If the sample pages are any indication, then the book itself is gonna be an addictive read.
The perfect coffee table accompaniment... Now I need to get a coffee table. This site is costing me way too much $$$

Had some time to kill, went through the preview of the book, got excited to see my name first among the list of contributors and pored through the index. The alphabetical index lists 464 films (1856 reviews?) and I did an analysis of how many films I've reviewed among these - just 116, i.e., an exact 25%. If ever someone makes a fwfr book accolade, I'd have my hands full.
This was the distribution alphabetically.
Alphabet/No. of films A 29 B 41 C 35 D 24 E 12 F 22 G 20 H 25 I 17 J 10 K 9 L 12 M 30 N 8 O 11 P 24 Q 0 R 18 S 56 T 39 U 5 V 4 W 7 X 2 Y 3 Z 0 ------ 464

There was a guessing game sometime back on how many reviews of theirs one expects to make it in the book. I guess it can be done easily now as the index is known. I attempted this by first constructing a list of films in the book that I have reviewed.
Alphabet/No. of films/No. of films reviewed by me (Names) A 29 6 (Animal Farm, Annie Oakley, Austin Powers In Goldmember, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Avatar, Aviator) B 41 8 (Barbershop, Basic Instinct, Beauty and the Beast, Ben-Hur, Big, Bolt, Borat..., Brokeback Mountain) C 35 5 (Casino Royale, Catwoman, Cock fight, A corner in Wheat, Corpse Bride) D 24 6 (Dancing Skeleton, Dark Knight, Demolishing and Building up the Star theater, Departed, Devil Wears Prada, Dish ran away with a spoon) E 12 2 (Electrocuting an Elephant, Erin Brockovich) F 22 6 (Face/off, 50 First dates, Fight Club, Forrest Gump, Fugitive, Fun in a Bakery Shop) G 20 3 (Gandhi, Gay shoe clerk, Goodwill Hunting) H 25 3 (Happy feet, Home alone, How a French Nobleman got a wife...) I 17 6 (I,Robot, Incredibles, Indiana Jones series (4)) J 10 3 (Junior, Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III) K 9 4 (Kill Bill series (2), King Kong, Kung Fu Panda) L 12 6 (Last Temptation of Christ, Liar Liar, Lion King, LOTR: Return of the King, Lost World:Jurassic Park, Love in a hammock) M 30 13 (Madagascar, Man with the smallest..., Matrix series (3), Men in Black, Messenger: Story of Joan of Arc, Microwave Massacre, Milk, Monsters inc., Monsturd,Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Mummy) N 8 1 (Nanook of the North) O 11 2 (Omen, One flew over the cuckoo's nest) P 24 7 (Panorama of Eiffel Tower, Passion of the Christ, Pinocchio, POTC: At World's End, Planet of the Apes, Polar Express, Predator) Q 0 - (-) R 18 3 (Rain Man, Rosemary's Baby, Runaway Bride) S 56 14 (Scorpion King, Shrek series (3)), Simpsons Movie, Singing in the Rain, Slumdog Millionaire, Snakes on a Plane, Sophie's choice, Sound of Music, Speed, Spiderman series (3), T 39 14 (Teeth, Ten Commandments, Terminator series (4), There's Something About Mary, 300, Titanic, Total Recall, Trapeze disrobing act, 12 Angry Men, Twister, 2001: A space odyssey) U 5 1 (Under Seige) V 4 0 (-) W 7 2 (What Happened on twenty-third street..., Wright brothers) X 2 0 (-) Y 3 0 (-) Z 0 - (-) --------- 464 116
What I've done next is see if my review is in the top 4 or 5 for the above films that I have reviewed - I do understand that some top reviews may be similar to other top reviews and hence not carried out in the book; many a time, there are hidden gems that may not have received votes yet and still need to be carried out in the book. I believe I should be able to get around 15 reviews in the book based on my analysis (yea, too much free time) - I'd not have believed it if someone had said this earlier.
Possible reviews - Animal Farm (0.5), Annie Oakley, Barbershop, Ben-Hur, Casino Royale (X), Erin Brockovich, Gandhi, Happy feet, How a French Nobleman..., Incredibles, Indiana Jones and the temple of doom (X), Jurassic Park, Jurassic park III (0.5), Kung Fu panda, Lost World (0.5), Matrix (0.5), Mummy, Nanook of the North, Panorama of Eiffel Tower, POTC:At World's end, Polar Express, Scorpion King, Singin' in the rain (0.5), Slumdog Millionaire, Sophie's choice, Spider-Man 3,
The ones marked with 0.5 in the brackets only have a 50-50 chance and the ones marked with X have not made it to the book.

I caught my first editorial miscue. Somebody -- either the titular [huh huh, he said "tit"] editors or a downstream copyeditor -- ruined my review of LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. Look it up, boys. At least nobody knows it was I who wrote it. |

I just skimmed through the preview on Amazon. Great stuff! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy!
BTW... you could've included my name and info in the list of contributors! |

I thought something looked a bit strange when I flicked through it a couple of days ago. |

Did you respond to the email sent to contributors asking for information and a four-word statement? I think those who didn't respond (or who wanted anonymity) had only their username used. |
