Benj, couldn't you programme it such that resubmitting a film already on this site caused it to update its year and cast information? That way, some of us (mainly me, sometimes demonic, occasionally others) could save you time by correcting this information ourselves. You'd need to set it so that it didn't update the title (which you might have amended) -- or of course remove any reviews.

Interesting...

I decided to do a test (once I found a suitable case) and the cast list does update when one resubmits the film. Has this always been the case, Benj? You should've said!

However, it does not update the release year.

Presumably it does delete any reviews, or did you test it on a review free page?

No, the reviews are fine. (I knew they would be if it already worked, as I've accidentally resubmitted films before without any problem.)

I never thought about using it in that way, but yes- I guess it would do that.

I've been considering for a while providing a special level of control to users with an inclination to keep films up to date. It'd probably consist of a refresh button and a facility to choose the name from the options available. Is this something you'd be interested in using Salopian? Or indeed anyone else?

Okay guys, you've both got an extra Edit button on the film pages now. Beyond that I hope it's pretty straightforward- you should now be able to import the latest details from IMDB and modify the name manually if you want.

Great, I'll check it out when I get home -- I don't think it's the kind of thing that one should do on a 'phone on a bus!

All seems very straightforward, just added a film and had a play. Thanks Benj - that makes things quick and easy. Brilliant!

Might have found a hitch... reimporting the details from IMDB for the new Wallace and Gromit short (to update the name) produced the details of a completely different film - a Korean movie called "Duelist". Any ideas?

Ah... yeah, I know what that is- that's called testing your code with only one film

Give it another shot now.
