In memory of Paul Newman, I have accepted a ridiculous challenge of watching "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and matching Newman drink for drink as he slugs his way through the movie on Burbon.

I haven't seen it in ages and i don't know how much he drinks....can anyone estimate?

Should i buy one bottle and hope for the best?

or should I just grow up?

Sorry, can't help.

Other than to suggest that you turn down any similar offer on hard boiled eggs.

Why not just match him slug for slug with salad dressing?

Whatever you do, do NOT marry Elizabeth Taylor!

You need to look at the specifics of this challenge. I don't read anything in what you said that would require that you match him on drink strength. Think 1/3 of a shot vs. each drink. You can doooooooo it! Just don't break your leg.

If I recall correctly, you might need just over one bottle. Of course, it has been a while and I might be including the other drinkers as well, but it's no small amount, that's for sure.

And I suggest you read this carefully before you start.

(And Rockgolf's advice is excellent. Given the two options, I think you're better off with the burbon shot matching.)

Ok guys thanks for the tips,

No boiled eggs (though they may lessen the hangover!!)
Shot per drink....good idea!! (maybe even sip for sip)
Plenty of salad cream...not sure why but it may come in handy.

and don't break my leg....remains to be seen.

So you're going ahead with the marrying Elizabeth Taylor thing?
