I just discovered that Carol Burnett stared in all three versions of the TV movies "Once Upon A Mattress" - 1964, 1972 and 2005.

I'm wondering - aside from movies with sequels, is that a singular achievement or can anyone think of someone else who appeared in three different versions of the same movie. I know of a couple of times where the same actor appeared in two different versions - Burt Reynolds in both "The Longest Yard" films, and Michael Caine in both versions of "Sleuth". But has anyone else appeared in three versions besides Carol?

Wondering if you could find something like that in Shakespeare. I'm thinking Derek Jacobi played Hamlet for the BBC, and then Claudius for Kenneth Branagh.

(after IMDB)

.... got one. John Gielgud was in Hamlet three times - twice as the Ghost (Chamberlain's and Burton's) and then the briefest of pointless cameos as Priam in Branagh's. It must have stung a bit that he never got to play the part on screen given his rivalry with Olivier.

Wow! Well done in finding that.

So... would this make a good accolade? The three "Once Upon a Mattress" versions and the three "Hamlet" versions? If so, just tell me which are the three "Hamlet" versions so I can add them.

Thanks!

(And if anyone knows of any other triple crown actors, please let me know. Hm... Triple Crown - yes, that's what I'll call the accolade!)

Have you considered actors who played characters in series films, like Warner Baxter in the Crime Doctor films? I think he played the character in 10 films.

There are TONS of those, so I don't think I'd want to make an accolade with all those. I really like the idea of remakes of the same story where one actor appeared in all three (or more) of them.

But if that's not a big enough accolade to do, we could add people who appeared in two versions of the same film. Like I said, there's "The Longest Yard" as well as "Sluth", but I don't know of many others.

I believe the entire cast of Police Academy have starred in the same film with the same jokes 7 times.

I'd stick to threes if you can, but there are plenty of doubles - just check out the slew of remakes and there often some cast cross over... look at "Get Carter" for example (Michael Caine has no shame)

Yes - Gregory Peck is in both of those. Good one!

Ah, but those are technically sequels and not remakes, so they're out.

(Yes, I know you were joking!)

I don't know what this thread is about, because I didn't read any of the posts, but I thought this would be a good place to note that I am only three reviews away from bronze.

Oh yeah, I've been bronze before, but that got taken away from me when we switched to the new value system. That was kind of mean. I've been in therapy about that, because I'm afraid they're going to do it again. You know: "them".

I think I'm going to switch to a monochrome monitor, on account of that way I won't really notice when "they" do something, you know, colorful to me again. This ways, I won't get all crushed or nothing. Like that really sucky feeling you get when somebody hijacks a thread with really banal chatter. Gaa! That irks me.

I tried to put this together, but I find that the 1970 one that you have here is the Ian McKellen version that Gielgud doesn't appear in, and isn't the Chamberlain one at all, which doesn't seem to be on the site, but I found here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065811/ but I can't seem to get this one to upload as a new movie.

BENJ!!!! HELP!!!
