I was a bit disappointed that my review "Gran, Torino" for Gran Torino did not seem to be picking up votes in the last round of the F.Y.C.T.H.
When the round ended and I came to remove my reviews, I discovered why. It wasn't there any more. It was in my rejected list instead.
Now, I'm not objecting to the principle that an approved review can be rejected. I'm not even objecting to the possibility of a review being rejected without warning while it is in the F.Y.C.T.H. (although it does seem a bit harsh).
I'm objecting to an approved review being rejected without explanation. I really don't think that is fair at all. My comment was still attached to the review: "Features a grandmother. Gran Torino was a type of Torino, so can be referred to just as that." If Benj or the MERP (if MERPs can now reject approved reviews) think that either the grandmother is insufficiently significant or a Gran Torino is not a type of Torino (though I did research that rather than just making it up) then I think it's only reasonable to expect them to explain that, in the circumstances. If there is any other reason for rejection, then they should similarly say so. |

I declined this because on reconsideration I thought it was a bit of a stretch since the grandmother is such an insignificant part of the story.
Sorry I didn't have chance to explain the decline- the system isn't presently written to support individual explanations when declining reviews that are already approved I'm afraid |

Thanks for getting back to me.
She was significant enough for me, with her and Walt's little frisson and all, but I appreciate that that is just subjective.
Please could you amend that aspect of the system as soon as you can? It's just that people have quite often been a bit upset when an approved review has then been rejected, as they get attached to them. I'd even say that you should perhaps amend it so that such rejections have to have an individual explanation rather than a standard one. I don't think it happens often enough for writing them to add much work.
Is there any way that one could be alerted when this happens from one's 'For your consideration' selection? For either the Treasure Hunt or general purposes, it seems a bit of a shame to not know that one is not maximising it. I usually only look in my rejected list when I have space for resubmissions.
Presumably "Gramp, Torino" would be fine? |

I agree this needs amending but once again it's a question of whether or not it's worth halting my current work to update old code for something that will be completely replaced (and considerably improved upon) once my current work is finished. Given how seldom I override the MERPs (or, in this case, my own) decisions I'm tempted to say this really isn't worth doing.

Yes, but once again, diverting my efforts into improving something that may not be around much longer seems a waste of time. |

Maybe don't reject any approved reviews till the changes are in place then. You can always report them as a way of noting that you want to reject them later (assuming that you can report reviews at all!). |

Well, I can't. Why would I bother adding functionality to report a review when I can act on it right away? I'll just decline as I see fit if that's okay with you- the standard decline reasons will have to do for now. |
