(Yeah, yeah, I know it came out 15 months ago, but I didn't find a previous thread, so I'm starting one now.)

Run Fatboy Run.
I got around to watching this film last night from a long-in-the-tooth TiVo recording off HBO. Don't know why I waited so long!

Quick plot summary: A lazy, out-of-shape loser decides to run a marathon in an effort to win back the woman he left at the altar (pregnant!) five years earlier.

Lots of things to like about it. Simon Pegg is utterly charming as the schlubby, likeable protagonist. He manages to be clownishly funny at times, but without losing his humanity, crafting a believable and ultimately sympathetic character. Dylan Moran and Harish Patel as his "trainers" are a stitch. Hank Azaria does what Hank Azaria does, which is usually worth watching. Thandie Newton is always worth watching. And there's a kid actor who doesn't suck.

Both the script (by Pegg and the great Michael Ian Black) and David Schwimmer's direction fall prey to a number of cinematic clichs, implausibilities, and sit-commy moments. But these can be forgiven due to the film's amiable, easy-going vibe, which had me smiling throughout and laughing out loud quite a bit.

If you haven't caught this one yet, I do recommend seeking it out.

I loved it.

I resemble the protagonist. No, I didn't leave anyone at the alter, but trying to take up running after way too many years of eating too much ice cream certainly is not as easy as it usually looks in the movies.

What I need is a nice musical montage, at the end I'll be in better shape than Rocky and look better than Hugh Jackman.

Yeah, that's the ticket.
