As ever , very late for the gate with this one.
If anything even more frenetic than the first one yet somehow less satisfying in my opinion. There are one or two excellent conceits in the film such as the " Toho Monster Scene" near the end. Some of the references are quite funny - when Statham's other film " The Trainspotter" is referenced.
Yet, overall...it's got some teeth jarring elements in it. Supporting characters include a sidekick with "full-body tourettes" ( hmm , not sure that worked even in a bad taste way ) and a screeching asian harpie who made you want to rip the speakers out.
It probably doesn't bear a lot of analysis to be fair !
SPOILER*********************************************** I wonder if the ending paves the way for Crank 3 minus Statham? |

I think I turned it off before it ended. I really can't remember, and it was just a week or so ago that I rented it.
That's rare for me, even horrible movies I usually make it to the end, hoping for some redemption.
I wasn't feeling it with this one. |

Crank: High Voltage
I had not seen or even heard of the first one when I saw this, so perhaps that helped me enjoy it more. I gave it 3/5 at the time, although it hasn't left a strong impression other than some funny scenes around the charging thread. |

I haven't seen this one yet, because (spoilers for Crank 1) I was pretty sure Stathom's character died at the end of the first film when he fell out of the helicopter, hit the pavement, and his eyes bulged out of his head.
Not sure where they could possibly take it from there. I'm going to rent it soon though. |
