These were left in the Lost & Found office. Help yourself to any of them that you like.

Perhaps I should mention that theres a 10-minute preludial sequence in A Serious Man about a possessed Russian peasant.

Ah, Biggerboat, your Avatar riff isnt a new idea: another Ava Gardner movie. I FYCed this a few weeks back but I guess you didn't take part in that one.

Now featuring Bostonian-friendly reviews.

Notes:

Killer of Sheep follows a slaughterhouse worker who finds life has become uninteresting.

John Faa leads a group to the Arctic to rescue kidnapped children in The Golden Compass (Nicole Kidman also stars).

Marc Foster directed the Bond film.

Polish in fact. I was really disappointed when that bit ended. (I live in Cracow.) But don't worry, Poles love being confused for Russians.

BiggerBoat: Youre a gent. Thanks.

Salopian: I stand corrected. I remember I intended to check that before posting & forgot.
Youre lucky, Id say, in one sense: Cracow is a strikingly beautiful city. The winter weather could use some improvement though.

Quite. For a couple of weeks in December it was often below minus fifteen and that was surprisingly O.K. even though I had no coat. Now it is quite often around minus twenty or below and it really makes a lot of difference. I've never before had brain freeze from the weather and my hands are in agony if I have to have them out of my pockets. The other (early) morning I couldn't get the key to work in the lock and I started to panic about where I could go to get inside as it was just unbearable.

All that said, the thought never leaves the back of my mind that at nearby Auschwitz people had to bear these conditions while starving, ill, barely clothed and otherwise horribly abused. It's the 65th anniversary of the liberation tomorrow and so I'm thinking of going. When I went there previously the weather was beautiful and so it was even harder to appreciate the full misery.

Ah! I didn't get the pun in the one for A Serious Man until I saw it again on the film's page just now. So it's 5/5 from me.

Thanks, Salopian.
I thought that one would do well enough but look at the poor little bastard, limping along there unappreciated. You can never tell, can you?
