That Larry and I are creeping up behind Salopian and if Larry works like I do, he's got enough reviews in his pending pile to slip past Salopian. Also, thanks for all the recent votes. Greatly appreciated.

In fact, I was getting ready to make a big announcement once one or both of them passed me. I will then be down into the 30s, and they will be the first people to pass me in a long time. This will actually, though, be the second time that wildheartlivie has passed me (see Sludge/Josh's ranking thread). Once I got near M0rkeleb and Downtown and my average slipped below 9.0 (it was bad enough when it fell below 10.0), I decided to start getting rid of reviews instead.

It's very entertaining how close together they stay. One will surge ahead but then the other will catch up -- they obviously usually review at different times of the week, but by the end of the week they tend to be virtually level. I've noticed because the name below me alternates all the time.

Thanks for the notice Salopian. Larry and I evidentally were close to being tied when I questioned how he went so far ahead after I had done my 20 for the week a while ago, when Benj announced he'd raised the submission cap to 30. Since that time, we keep very close. He tends to review early in the week and I do so at the end of the week. But when Saturday or Sunday rolls around, we're close to being tied. I've been working through my accolade collections and try to finish one when I notice it is close. That gives me new material, even if it stinks. I'm closing in on 30 reviews in the decline pile because I've exceeded my limit for the week. I tend to think that's what Larry does too. We'd welcome anyone joining in the race. The one above you will take a little while, MM0rkeleb has 2304 reviews right now. That's a good three weeks if he doesn't submit. My original goal was to break the top 50, but it's hard to put aside when someone routinely passes you by. I remember when you passed me by a long time ago. I was so exasperated. Join in, anyone's welcome!

It's strange how one's motivations vary over time. I was satisfied once I got into the top 100, and although I got into the 60s not that long after that I stayed there for years and didn't think I'd ever get into the top 50. I slowly overtook retired reviewers and that was countered by much newer ones racing past me. However, when the cap came in it made me submit more, as I hadn't usually written twenty a week before that but always wanted to use it up in case I didn't have enough the following week. I only had an average of about eight approvals a week; quite a lot of people had much higher success rates but they were all already well above me, so I started on a fairly rapid rise which I got a taste for and has brought me to the 20s. The downside has been that I've let some lower quality reviews through, which (in combination with newer reviews getting fewer votes anyway) has really been bad for my average. My policy is to only have reviews that I would vote for were they someone else's, and I've definitely ended up submitting some that I would only vote for when feeling generous. So, from now on, I'll aim to stay in the 20s (you two will put me into the 30s but I'll pass Downtown soon enough -- unless he comes back, which I'd welcome) but I won't reach higher. Until my motivations change again!

So, good luck to whichever of you passes me first. I was trying to think of a reward but I didn't want to specify a certain number of votes as I've already seen virtually all of your reviews and don't want to vote dishonestly. But I've thought of a different reward now -- watch this space...

Congratulations! You have both passed me at the exactly the same moment. 'Reward' to follow.

Thanks, Salopian, though I'd rather pass you with more reviews rather than see you get rid of any (though I'd say that I just posted 15 new reviews just now for consideration). You're a swell!!

So, what I thought I'd do is highlight some of their reviews that I think are undervoted.

Larry
There are lots of tired surname puns on here, so it's nice to see one that I don't remember.
Simply the best review for this film.
And another food-related one.
As in Sid Caesar.
I like words in words.
Luna is the actor's name, so this is not one of those cases where the character has been named according to a characteristic.
The actress is Eve Lilith.
Hal's character is unexpectedly successful against the Mayor et al.
O.K., it's not literally about a bucket, but I'm ashamed to say that I also have a review along those lines, and I like this version too.
Good bit of alliteration.

wildheartlivie
Another good bit of alliteration.
I don't know this film but from the summary this seems to be a good combination of references.
This is part of a nice matching set for the trilogy, but this one has the added dimension of the alarm-clock image.
I love this kind of themed review.
As with my also undervoted reviews for this film , I like the reference to their previous outing, and the semantic/phonetic link between the middle words.
Good point.
I like a pre-existing phrase ending up having a more literal application to a film.
Don't know why I didn't think of this!
Nice pair.

Gosh, thanks Salopian. I must say, you pointed out things in a couple of them that I didn't see or didn't realize.

Is it the alarm-clock thing (which I didn't notice myself till today) and "Rose raise"?

Just bumping this thread in the hope that more people will take a look at the links above. I don't think that any of the reviews have gained any votes since I posted them.

Yes, wildheartlivie and I are still neck-and-neck, more or less. Usually, at the end of the week, I'm a bit behind (I've had a few more rejections than usual lately). We're both gunning for MM0rkeleb and for Downtown, and should overtake them in the next couple of weeks... then it's a race to see who can be the 25th most active reviewer.

Funny thing is, I was just about to drop out of FWFR, or slow way down, when whl pointed out our competition. Plus, I realized I was getting close to 10,000 votes for my reviews (I'm just 70 away as I type this), which seemed like a nifty milestone. Of course, my ego deflated when I saw that whl has 17,000 votes for the same number of reviews. Oh, well...

Well that is because I pimp harder, or at least did so in the past. And I've been here a couple years longer, going on 4 years.
