Dark Star The Blob in Space. Check out the trailer.
Action Jackson Poor Carl Weathers might have had a better career if it weren't for Action Jackson. I couldn't watch it beyond the exchange with his superior, who cautioned, "You tore a man's arm off!" to which Action Jackson replied, "He had a spare!"
Gymkata Tagline: The skill of gymnastics, the kill of karate.
This was supposed to launch the movie career of Olympic gold medal gymnast Kurt Thomas. In fairness, he actually does kick ass on the martial arts side, but what ruins this is the random gym-looking equipment he finds in the middle of nowhere which "enables" said ass kicking. Note the image to which we link here, a faux stone pummel horse enabling him to eliminate suspicious townspeople. |

"Phoenix the Warrior," aka "She Wolves of the Wasteland." found this one in the adults-only (not porn, but hard R, late night cable stuff) section of my favorite video store. had some scantily clad women on the cover, in a painting that looked like it may have been done by Boris Vallejo or Julie Bell. now, i knew i wasn't getting "Citizen Kane," but i thought it might be fun, plus lots of nekkidness. horrible film-making in every single way, and there wasn't nearly enough nudity to distract me. |

Aside from Gladiator, which made me squirm from start to finish (and inspired my now world-famous four word review), I'd say one of the absolutely most cringe worthy films I've ever seen was Earthquake.
I paid to see that when I was a kid at the theater! They showed it along with Towering Inferno and the marquee read "Shake and Bake." I kid you not (Richardson, TX, back in the day) Same theater I saw Jaws at. It was a great time to be a kid that liked movies.
I agree, Mega Shark does work as a comedy. I honestly didn't know what to think when I turned it on. They took themselves so. seriously. Maybe it could have been made a musical? Like the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special? |

"Piranha 3D" (2010), just from the previews, is looking like it will be in this discussion. |

I said it in 2007, and I still believe it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, with Dennis Hopper. It was so disturbingly bad that when I almost skipped by it on HBO one night, I stopped because I saw Dennis Hopper. An hour later, I'm sitting on my couch, stunned into disbelieve at how bad it was, mouth hanging open, drool at the corner of my lips, literally unable to move my index finger to slip on by it. IT SUCKED. IT SUCKED BIG DONKEY ... erm, you know. |

Oh, and I think I only came back to my senses because I had begun twitching uncontrollably and inadvertently hit the channel button in the throes of uncontrolled neurological twitches. |

Anybody seen THE ROOM? Angelenos may respond to its infamous billboard. I read a HARPER'S piece on it, rented it, sat there aghast, and then immediately bought a DVD copy for my very own! |

Oh yes: once seen, never forgotten. Transcendently bad in every respect, & incredibly funny.

I love it - it's Dan O'Bannan (than J. Carpenter) and it's a perfect little indie sci-fi - everything MOON wants to be (and in my liking isn't) |

Ha ha! Yeah, I saw this again not long ago, and not only is the fight long and drawn out, but is so incongruous to the story - they were buddies, to a degree. The guy who played the lead had been a wrestler in real life, and it was almost like there must have been something in his contract to say that there had to be a fight scene in there somewhere.
All very stilted, shit John Carpenter synth soundtrack, but a great plot.

I love this film, too. And it's absolutely nothing like The Blob, which -- by the way -- is another favorite of mine. Even if your description were remotely accurate, it wouldn't be an insult.
Are you sure you've actually seen it? I can't imagine anyone who's seen it comparing it to The Blob. Calling it "The Blob in space" is like calling Star Wars "My Dinner With Andre in space." |
