No big deal, but I just noticed that yesterday was the 4th anniversary of my first reviews accepted on the site. Why were the early ones the best ones??

Happy Fourth Year Word Reviewing!

(and the first aren't the best really - I think people are just more generous to newcomers... shhh!)

I dunno. My top voted review was for Beetlejuice: Day-O of the Dead, approved on the second day I was here, Sept. 1, 2006, 4 years ago today. The second top voted review was for From Dusk Till Dawn: One Night at McGhoul's, and was on the first day, August 31. I thought they were both quite right. *shrug*

Brava!

And yes, the earlier ones are sometimes better than the newer ones. Several reasons I can think of. First, there were less on the site so the good ones hadn't been thought of yet. Next, it could be when you're new here, you're more creative. There's also the thing about chasing accolades that dampens creativity so when you're not doing that, your reviews are probably better.

But sometimes we do come up with new ones that are better than the earlier ones.

I will never forget coming up with my review for Outbreak. I'd just watched it and was thinking on it and thought about the monkey that was released into the forest in California. I was walking into the kitchen and thought "Monkey see, monkey do". Then "Monkey free"... and "Monkey Flu" popped in there and I thought EUREKA!!! It's on my top 5 reviews. So yeah, early creativity was a factor there!
