Sci-five

N.B.
"Phase IV" is about intelligent ants. It's not a good film.
The 1999 "Beowulf" is set in the future.
In "Knowing" Nicolas Cage deciphers a page of numbers that predicts the end of the world.
Bruce Willis has a robot double in "Surrogates".
The Judge Dredd reboot stars Karl Urban.

I was going to say I wasn't so sure about the days are numbered one — there are lots of versions of it here, but the double meaning of ours was I thought really the same despite the very different scenarios, whereas the only ones older than mine are rather different; however, I now cannot verify the exact sense of mine. If I can persuade myself to vote for yours then it'll be 5/5.

I've never had a particular problem with similar ideas being used for different films as long as it isn't an obvious duplicate for something like a remake. I don't think it harms the site if a good idea is applied well on more than one occasion. Personally I try harder to avoid duplicating my own ideas, I'm less concerned about coming up with the same pun as someone else, as it inevitably happens all the time. In this instance - what can I say... You vote for mine and I'll vote for yours...

making up the numbers

Catfish is a documentary showing how NYC photographer Nev Schulman engages in an intense online romance, eventually realises things aren’t as he's been led to believe, & travels to Michigan meet his Facebook friend.

Neds is about a studious kid who becomes a tearaway.

Tamara Drewe is a weak comedy deriving from Posy Simmonds’ cartoon strip & graphic novel of the same name, which are based on Far from the Madding Crowd.

Anyone seen Barney's Version? Very sad film. Paul Giammatti was excellent.

Intended to see it today, but upon hearing that it's Sad, well, I dunno... :o)

Ok, tragicomic then. Well worth a watch, just not on your own like I did :)

Saw it--you're right--great film--everyone was well cast and well directed. It IS sad, but it's also gratifying, satisfying, laughmaking, edifying, and great big chunks of fine noncliche storytelling. Thanks!

Great. Now I'm sad because I haven't seen it. Thanks everyone.

Thanks Kazook. I guess my Shaun of the Dead review didn't hit the right musical note for the rest of the gang.

Oh, VV. Also lurked a round or two, a round or two ago.
