Yup, it definitely is, although I'd prefer it even more without the hyphen: the two elements would still stand out. |

Remember Walk Hard: The Dewey Cocks Story?
Um, no...
On a more important matter, when 's is attached to words ending in "s", "z", "sh", "zh", "ch" or "j" sounds (i.e. has to be pronounced as the syllable "iz"), it can only be a possessive, not mean is: if it means is and is pronounced as a syllable, then it's by definition just the word as nothing is being abbreviated. |

To Cracovian, I have no idea what you're talking about, but I was referring to this film. I admittedly spelled Mr. Cox's name wrong accidentally. |

Our self-appointed teacher was trying [rather crudely] to refer to your use in another review of the term "Ross's." Your meaning -- "Ross is" -- was easily apprehended by any thoughtful reader; such is the ever-evolving purpose of punctuation. But you happened to offend his unwavering stylebook. Look on the bright side: you got a free meaningless English lecture! |

I admit to using the apostrophe awkwardly, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get a review down in four words or less. Luckily 14 voters didn't mind. |
