Posted - 07/11/2007 : 09:31:03 Well, I think everyone seemed to like this. So here's Chapter Two:
DA ROOLZ 1. Look at the top-rank of your SECOND PAGE. Pick ONE film you think deserves to be on your first page - as sorted by votes received.
2. Isolate that film* and present the link in this thread WITH ...
3. AN EXPLANATION OF WHY YOU LIKE IT.
Who knows, your wish may come true
* It's been covered before how to do this, but here's a step-by-step recap: 1. Go to the page featuring everyone's reviews of your chosen film.
2. Select Reviewer Name for the page display. 3. Find your own review and count which number it is on the page. 4. Up at the top url display you'll see something like this: http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?sort=2&dir=2&id=1698&Mode=&Rows=1&Start=11 5. See where it says Start=11 ... change that numeral to whatever you counted in step 3, and press go. 6. Your new page should now start with your chosen review. 7. NOW, to eliminate all the other reviews still showing, go up to the url display again and see where it says Rows=100. 8. Change that to Rows=1
2. From the drop-down display options choose My Reviews Only.
9.
3. Your new page should now have only your chosen review displayed. Copy that url and use it as your link for this thread.
HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!
PS Thanks to Whipper for reminding me that the lovely benj has, of course, been working tirelessly to provide this drop-down option for just such occasions. Sorry, benj ... sorry, everyone ... hope it's fixed now

Posted - 07/17/2007 : 09:16:40 I just like this one (the higher-voted one), although the previously rejected version with not instead of imagined was better. |

I commented when I FYCTH'ed it that it was taken from an old Carol Burnett sketch about Love Story. The scene has her as Jenny embracing Oliver as she says something like: How wonderful life is! How could anything go wrong!, and then turns to the camera and: Cough. Cough. It was the second best parody she did on that show (Gone With the Wind being the best).
I remember that. Nice one.
Of course, she was parodying La Traviata and not Moulin Rouge, but no matter.

I like this because it puns on a common criticism of the film.

How can a show be a prequel when it was produced before the film? The mind boggles.
Eh . . . you're right! I meant to say something along the lines of the movie following the series. Forgive the misnomer.
Movie sequel? Spin-off movie? Would-have-been-a-spin-off-franchise-had-it-not-been-so-darn-confusing-for-non-fans?
You might have noticed that I have issues with Joss Whedon.

You can't beat a good penis joke or two. So here are two. Ronny Cox stars, Philip K Dick wrote the short story, but very little of the original tale remains in this overblown Arneld flick. |

Posted - 07/11/2007 : 19:48:36 i have multiple reviews for this film. please consider Portman needs Weaving . the character Evey could use a weave, and she's become attached to character played by Hugo Weaving. |

I have always liked this review because it works in a literal sense within the plot and also reflects my belief that Hugh should be more careful in his choice of roles. |

But won't you still have to narrow it down to the specific review from all your reviews for a film? (Obviously where you only have one it won't matter.)
Yes, you're right Sal ... in which case - go back to the original instructions which will still work.

Right I see where you are coming from but I do not think that Baftababe was expecting us to deal in Absolutes when she thought this up.
Beanmimo -- as he so often is - is correct. The imputation was to chose one film from your 2nd highest scoring page that you feel 'deserves' to move up at least one place. My assumption here is that if a FWFR has already reached your 2nd highest-voted page 1. you must like it and 2. others already think it's good.
But, hey - honestly I'm not precious about this. I just thought it might be a different way to share reviews we like ... if votes come too, that's a bonus.
But if someone else wants to take this over, please feel free. Or, if you want to start your own similar thread -- I promise I won't be offended
