Well you have all been very busy today and well done on the standard so far. I have even been inspired to write a few off the cuff reviews on the back of some of todays entrants.

Three newbies. Two oldies

Explanations:
Citizen Kane: A thinly-disguised biography of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. (Did you know that "rosebud" was actually Hearst's pet name for a specific part of his wife's anatomy? He blew a gasket when he heard how it was used in the film. C'mon! Who names a sled after a flower? BTW, most of this has nothing to do with the review.)

The Other Side of the Mountain A woman becomes a quadrapalegic after a serious skiing accident.

DiG! This may be the only example of a movie title/review that is what is known in Cryptic crosswords as an "& lit" clue. That is, the clue can be taken literally to reach the answer, but is also an encoded answer. In this case, the literal definition of the title is also in a different sense, a summation of the film. It even has an exclamation point, which in cryptics is a dead giveaway for that type of clue! Did that blow your mind?

There is a motif in Double Indemnity where Fred MacMurray lights a match for Edward G. Robinson. By the end of the movie, once MacMurray is caught by Robinson, Robinson lights a match for MacMurray.
