Citizen Kane: A thinly-disguised biography of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. (Did you know that "rosebud" was actually Hearst's pet name for a specific part of his wife's anatomy? He blew a gasket when he heard how it was used in the film. C'mon! Who names a sled after a flower? BTW, most of this has nothing to do with the review.)
I liked the 'rosebud' story. Disappointingly, Filmsite.org describes it as a "wild claim" ("Gore Vidal - a close friend of Hearst, wildly claimed in 1989 in a short memoir in the New York Review of Books that "Rosebud" was a euphemism for the most intimate part of his long-time mistress Marion Davies' female anatomy.") Spoilsports. |

"Rosebud" a.k.a. "rose garden" more recently by rock band Live in their song "The Dolphin's Cry". I wonder where the idea of 'rose' came from? Can't be the aroma.
