Yep, believe the Wiki scribe is trying to indicate stuff that's added on by books, games, comics, etc., to the SW universe -- where the canon is everything that's on film.

SW is one big long story, a finite but expanding universe that sometimes wraps around on itself. For example, the planet Coruscant was created by Tim Zahn for his SW novel HEIR TO THE EMPIRE fifteen years ago. This book takes place several years after the end of ROTJ. But George made it canon by depicting it in the prequel trilogy, which takes place before SW! [A funny note: those who worked on the book, including the author, always pronounced it "CORE-uh-scant." Then, when the prequels appeared, somebody interviewed George and asked him for the correct pronunciation: "CORE-uh-sant," he said. Silent C. And from that moment on, it was the correct pronunciation...]

I used to look like Johnny Depp, but I changed my appearance awhile ago. I've been looking for a photo of Ryan Gosling to switch this one with. Stay tuned.
