I also ran into the "nothing happens when I hit submit" problem. Then I remembered that I've never been able to change my avatar on Firefox and have always had to switch to IE in order to do that. Testing a hunch, I decided to try the "report" feature using IE instead of Firefox. Bingo.

So obviously what's happening is that benj is one of Bill Gates's evil minions and he's purposely set up both this feature and the avatars to sabatage us Firefox users.

It's already something I have to worry about (although clearly I haven't been worrying about it enough, given the backlog that's built up here), but previously I had to have access to my database software (plus tracking down and copying the relevant review ids) in order to de-dupe or re-assign a review to a different film. Now I can do this without the laborious copying and pasting AND not be tied down to only being able to do it at my work or home PC.

Must be more than Firefox. I'm IE.

Probably he meant it literally when he said he's working on it RIGHT NOW, so the whole feature may be temporarily down.

That's a fair point- any better suggestions than Report are welcomed

Wot about: Notify

you could try query

I do worry that fwfrers will start to get accepted reviews with votes suddenly declined without reason and will start to feel aggrieved.

Will you put valid reasons with each of the surprise declines, I honestly believe that loads more will be reported and you will end up with masses of decisions to make and some users will abuse or over use the 'feature'.

I hope that you are ready for the increased workload, at least the current manner of reporting is open and easy for all even non fourum contributing fwfrers to understand.

thats my opinion accept it or not but that's what I think.

Beautiful notion, benj. Also saves you from all those "-ta" messages. I will use it assiduously.

This is already the case though. Any review that's erroneously on the site is living on borrowed time anyway, and always has been.

That's up to benj, but there would be ways around it. E.g., flag or auto-ignore reports from users who have a habit of incorrectly reporting, or disable it entirely for users who abuse it. Other forums work the same way, e.g., IMDb.

JMO, but if loads more are reported then that can only be a good thing, as dupes etc should be eradicated, and spelling errors fixed etc.

I'm guessing it will be far easier to fix them this way (than the current system involving fourum posts).

I'd say benj always has the option of ditching this new system if it proves to be too much work.

I just tried "submit" and it asked me if I was Salopian. When I said "No," it took me to a secret page where all of my pending reviews were listed along with a guarantee to approve each one I selected, along with check for $500.00US for each one approved. Thinking this was a hoax, I clicked the back button and said "Yes."

Then it just sent me to this thread.

I guess it's still not working?

(I'm just kidding with you Sal. )
