That wasn't real....?

Re: Sen's comments...

Well, that sure told me Still, what I felt at the time holds true- I was left wondering if it was done for real, which is the essence of a good stunt in my mind. Kinda' wish I'd not gone asking about this now because I'm a bit disappointed

BTW, people can fall a long way for a long time in extreme sports (ski jumps, mountain bike jumps etc) but the difference there is that they don't land on horizontal surfaces. If they did they'd be screwed. They land at acute angles to dramatically reduce the deceleration on landing. Bond's landings by comparison were on hard flat surfaces, hence the need for wires.

I'm not talking about these sorts of things, I'm talking about skaters clearing large sets of steps (the kind of number of steps that require a launch off the back of a speeding car). It's kinda' hard to describe the set-up more exactly, but these kinds of things are what come to mind when I see stunts like that.

Aw, don't feel bad, Benj - if your gut feeling was "hey, this could be real" then go with it and forget whatever anyone else says.

(My gut feeling was: "gosh-oh-gee, this will be perfect for the video game".)

Sorry! Well I suppose if people are arguing about whether it was real or not then it must've been pretty reasonable. Generally when a stunt is done very well I'm left thinking "Hey, excellent stunt!" rather than "Wow, is the character injured?" or "How will this change the plot, e.g., will he catch the bad guy now?" etc. So, I suppose stunts are wasted on me.

The Aston Martin rollover was an example of a perfect stunt. I was thinking when I watched it "Wow, that looked really real!"... and it was. It rolled seven times. Poor car...

My thought was: "Bond hasn't learned how to drive like James Bond, yet."

Daniel Craig has dark hair in Infamous, and looks much better that way. This makes it rather incomprehensible that he would refuse to dye it for Bond.

I just saw this movie today and regardless of blond or dark haired, real or wires, the chase scene at the start was awesome.

I liked the movie.
I think I would have played better poker than Bond.

Did anyone else notice who the man was at Miami Airport that set the metal detector off?

Statistically this is impossible. In movies, unrealistically high hands are played. For instance, the hand which was the 'bluff' was two pairs, a good hand in poker (and it turned out to be a Full house).

I loved this film, and I hate bond movies. Having done a little parcour, I thought the scenes were within human limits other than the 'crane drop' scene.

I did get the sense of it being an early Bond since he only scored with one chick.

Yup- quite bizarre

Also, Michael G Wilson had a funnier cameo than he usually gets.

Um... he scored with two, actually. Vesper of course, but before that there was that girlfriend of the bad guy who was killed.

He had that intimate moment with Le Chiffre, too.

Yes, well... I don't think he really enjoyed that as much as he pretended to.

SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought, "He ruined that great car to save that woman. What a waste."

I kinda felt she was going to be a double cross and therefore didn't really like her from the start.

And when he transferred the funds, I thought, "What a dummy." I liked a lot of the movie, but I wish they had made Craig a little smarter.

Risk taker, fine, but he doesn't have to be stupid. So easily fooled.

EM :)

Reading the book over 20 years ago gave that point away for me.

Remember what this movie is about. It's about how James Bond became JAMES BOND. He learned some harsh lessons from Vesper, don't you think? Lessons that might explain the way he acts in all the other Bond films, no?
