I still think Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister were two of the best written shows ever.
It's a big call but 30 years later they still are one of the sharpest parodies of the Westminster system of government and the relationship between the executive and bureaucratic arms of government portrayed is priceless. |

Just watched " Eurotrip " ( it's not a crime...yet ) . In one hilariouus scene the two American Backpackers wander into a London Pub. Step forward the very cockney Vinnie Jones who declares " We support the finest team in the land ...Manchester United !". LOL!
Just rewind a minute . Manchester United are known as " The Pride of Singapore " ( among other things ! ) by rival fans because of the widespread support by " Glory Hunters " who live nowhere near Manchester. Even so , a Manchester United Pub in London would last approximately no minutes!
Transfer the scene to Boston fr'instance. Can you imagine a Yankees-Theme Bar getting a Thumbs up from locals? |

Well , make sure you are feeling upbeat because Eastenders is one of the most depressing soaps ever! It's full of weather beaten characters who indulge in angst, misery , more angst, affairs and wife beating. Barry was a no hope Used Car Dealer BTW. Happy Viewing |

I see that the girl who played whatsherface's younger sister has just been cast as the lead in NBC's re-imagining of The Bionic Woman.
I hated that whole family, the Slaters. They reminded me of the three new Thundercats introduced near the end of that show's run to reinvigorate the struggling franchise.

Doesn't Shaun Williamson (Barry) do an excellent job of taking the piss out of himself and his Eastenders role. Funnily enough, I just caught an episode of Extras tonight. |

There are several "Yankees bars" in Boston. There are probably even more "Red Sox bars" in New York City, the most famous of which is The Riviera Cafe and Sports Bar, which has been featured in the New York Times. Sometimes the proprietor intended the place to be for fans of the rival team and actually decorates it accordingly, and sometimes the establishment just ends up getting "taken over" by the fans. But there are a LOT of fans of both teams living in "hostile territory," and it's only natural they create safe havens for themselves. After all, the two cities are only about four hours apart, which is very close by American standards. A lot of New Yorkers go to college in Boston and vice versa. |

Yep, there are Sox bars here in New York, Packer bars, you name the team and there is a cult that gathers here somewhere.
Isn't Manchester United owned by an American now? I always assumed they were the football equivalent of the New York Yankees or the Dallas Cowboys; i.e., they have fans all over the country. |

It was called 'What would Judas do?' It was a one man show by Stuart Lee the comedian and it was pretty good. Mr Merchant was one of the audience. |

Oh, yeah, I read about that. Sounded v. good. I thought S Lee got such a raw deal about Jerry Springer, the Opera: those protesting shmucks totally misread the intent. It was about television and megalomania not Jesus!
Anyway ... glad you enjoyed both the play and the interval
