I PM'd Cheese_Ed on a similar subject last week, while I was looking for the Avatar contest winners. His reply was "The winner's gallery has been down for a while. Someday it will be restored, and I'm saving all the winning entries to post them." This probably doesn't help you, but you're not the only one missing the gallery.

I don't trust the security on the old gallery, so I'm probably going to have to write a new one- hence the hold-up.
